  • Cheap is no good if the car park operator does not accept liability for damage to your car.

Won't be using Purple Parking Heathrow again....

Their terms and conditions seem to say that they would be liable in the event of damage caused by them?

Booked 2 cars into Parkstansted.com last week. Now have had email saying office is closed out of hours (at 10.15 on a Sat morning?) so we have to leave our cars at their house and they will take us to the airport from there. How odd is that? Very worried now and have read some unpleasant reviews about this company but they are all a couple of years old. Has anybody got any recent comments that may put my mind at rest (or not!).

There is a credit crunch on so this means you cannot trust any business - not even a bank.
A lot less people are flying , not a problem for a farmer who parks cars in his grandfather's barn, but an over borrowed company of recent origin could have problems.
This smells to me of a company having to contract - it might be a case of the firm which owns the car park having troubles.
I would ask them straight out and see what they say. It is not too late to go by [strike]taxi[/strike] private hire vehicle.
Perhaps the firm is trying to hang on until the summer season by making alternative arrangements; while there is life there is hope.
Perhaps someone can call in and take a look. Last time I came down the M11 I was surprised to see that the visible car parks were empty - perhaps being resurfaced I thought.

Let us know how you get on.

Perhaps I am over aware of going to Gatwick, early on a Sunday morning and standing in an almost empty car park trying to raise the contact number "Oh did you not get the Email saying we are using a different car park now?"

The company have been around for 5 years - or at least their website is 5 years old. We're coming up from the west country so taxi etc is not an option. I'll keep you posted!
  • Has anyone stayed at the Cambridge Hotel Gatwick recently. I understand it's been refurbished. Is it OK??? We are planning to use their parking too which is in a compound onsite. Does anyone have any experience of this.

    Thanks

The "compound" is a field next door. Not sure they have planning permission (so check insurance). Not stayed there but it looks nice from the outside lol.

Returned last night safe and sound. House is in a rural location but there were lots of cars parked there. Owners were polite and chatty. Prompt journey to the terminal. Prompt collection on return. Minibus was clean and fairly new (even had a child seat in it).
Would have to recommend Parkstansted as a reasonably priced and convenient place to leave your car and without the hassle and queuing you get with the bigger companies - no lugging your cases on and off a bus whilst wrestling with a buggy a baby and a toddler which is what we have done in the past.
Very relieved to report a happy ending!
  • Has anyone done any research on airport parking at Luton and have you any advice?

I would rather not leave my keys with anyone :(
