I have just booked 6 days parking with APH at Stansted for £39.20 which I was happy with buttt, on the email conformation it also says VAT element of £5.84! Is that just to show me the VAT paid or is that added onto the £39.20 quoted? Sorry to be so dim

Carmen - should be included (£33.36 plus vat), would have been an extra £6.86 if the net price was £39.20.0

Posted elsewhere yesterday, then found this thread which seems a better place for it.
We regularly fly from Luton and have recently discovered the car park at Luton Airport Parkway station. The car park is manned 24 h, secure, and has CCTV, and we've found the staff helpful. Currently £4.20 a day or £20 a week.
There's a free shuttle bus between the station and the airport, which runs frequently between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. and takes 10 minutes.

Update: since Thameslink lost their franchise the web link above no longer works

One of the earliest posts, No.9 on this thread, suggested using a one way car hire. Quoted c.£30 with Alamo. I've just checked Alamo's site. Smallest car Portsmouth to LGW at end of April 2006 £28. Fine. But plus £40 "one way hire charge".0

Just a quick warning about cheap Airport car parks. Some of these are very badly run, don't have insurance, only have 1 minibus so you have to wait upto 1 hour before you get picked up from the airport and your car is driven like it's a race car from the drop off point (normally a large car park belonging to a hotel). When I arrived back at the hotel car park there was a number of angry customers waiting for their cars to arrive and for their keys to be found. Not a great way to end your holiday.
So it might be better to go with a more reputable name or use Tesco clubcard deals for airport parking and save 75%.0 -
I've been banging on about MSE now for weeks to my dear old husband and 99% of the time I have always managed to undercut any quote for ANYTHING he's got just by checking on these forums.
However, and this post is just a gentle reminder, if you or someone else travelling, works for one of the big companies out there (BT, Nat West, Royal Mail - you get the picture), their employee benefit scheme always has tons of great offers.
We've just managed to get 2 nights parking at EMA for £16.50 and the absolutel cheapest I could find previously was £19."Sumptus censum ne superet"

Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
I work as a "Meet and Greet" chauffeur at an airport.
in other words I take your car to the car park and return it to you.
BE CAREFUL OF CHEAP OFFERS OF PARKING WHEN YOU GO AWAY.
I know of companies who are very cheap and they are only cheap because they park your car in the street or in a supermarket car park.
A particular company removed the expensive wheels off a car and substituted cheap ones. the owner fortunately had a photo of his car so was able to get £1000 back.
It is always a good idea to ask the company where your car is going to be left. IS THE CAR PARK SECURE?
One well known on site company lost £100,000 worth of cars as they left the keys under the sun visor!!
Be careful. It is not worth losing your car or having it damaged for the sake of a few £££0 -
sailorjohn wrote:https://www.purpleparking.com/tesco if you have tesco clubcard vouchers, these can be exchanged for deals tokens 4 times the face value of the vouchers, i.e. £10 vouchers will buy £40 parking. You must have applied for and received the tokens at least 2 weeks before travel date. Regards sailorjohn
I'm only paying £23.50 in Tesco vouchers for 2 weeks parking at Gatwick next month (including Easter!) and if you bear in mind that the vouchers are a bonus - that means it costs nothing!
We also manage to get a free holiday a year from our Tesco vouchers, and RAC membership - so get shopping at Tesco, and don't spend the vouchers in-store as many people do, use them for Deals.0 -
Just booked 8 days parking at Secure Air Parks (right next to the airport) through this link http://www.aph.com/partners/?toysrus cost £21.21. It would have cost £32.04 direct from Secure Air Parks without going through the link.
My thanks to Monkeyspanner for earlier post.0
