Can someone explain to me where to find the Guess watch for £5 Tesco vouchers?
  • Hiya,

Unfortunately all the Guess watches are out of stock now. But have a look at https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk and see if there's anything else. You then need to send of for your Deals vouchers by printing the online form from the Tesco website. Also read Martin's post about Tesco Deals Vouchers. HTH

seeing as i'm still using this thread for ideas - i thought some of the rest of you might be, too.

    Name of present? top trumps

Do you make it or buy it? buy it

Total Cost? £2.49 - £4.99 (plus 50p postage if you buy direct)

Details (the more the better): excellent selection of top trumps cards from bratz for the girls to supercars for the boys. they now do a 'junior' range for younger children as well as special editions of little britain cards & fhm covergirls (for older boys, obviously!). many available directly from the top trumps website, but a better selection from amazon (including the fhm ones). you can also get them in woolies & save your postage.

Where possible please add a link if it's an online offer:

Name of present? Belly Dancing Kit
Make it or buy it? Buy it
    Total Cost? £4.99
Details (the more the better)? Oxfam shops have a Belly Dancing Kit - I first saw it in one of the their shops but it is also available online.

Lloyds Chemist may not be the most obvious place to look for Christmas presents but they seem to be doing quite a few. Things I remember include a set of soft animal skittles for £4.99, various puzzles for £3 - £4.99, a range of mugs with various things with them (chocolates, animal keyrings etc) for £4-£5. You'd have to know your recipient well to offer a Body Fat monitor for £4.99, IMO, but maybe that's just what your Significant Other has always wanted ...

Then of course there's the obvious things to buy from a chemist (apart from indigestion remedies and painkillers for hangovers!) like nice toiletries.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • That Oxfam site also has some nice calendars and diaries - perhaps not the most original gift in the world but at least it's one that will be useful, used daily and last all year - which is more than you can say about a box of chocolates. :)

  • Make colourful characters for children's Christmas presents. I've just ordered my packet of cress seeds from https://www.sutton-seeds.co.uk at £1.15 for a packet of 10,000 seeds. Get it from the 'seeds section', not the children's section, as the children's section doesn't specify how many seeds you get. P&P is FREE.

I got full details on how to make cress heads from https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/bluepeter/active/makes/m_cressheads.shtml

You can make cressheads and add cardboards cut outs to make football characters, golf, surfing characters, etc.

You can also make cress caterpillars:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/boogiebeeb.../cress_make.shtml

    or eggheads with cress hair:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/art/activiti.../cbbc_egghead.shtml

I'll be making some with my children, as little pressies for friends' children, and as 'extras ' for my nephews.

CBBC has lots of other ideas to make.
  • To add to the list of places that you can download calendar templates:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/templates/CT061993171033.aspx

I've just completed my 12-page photo calendar using the microsoft template for 2006, using photos of my children, included bank hols and birthdays, and included a caption on each photo.

I'll be using the free photo paper from Kodak, as advertised by Martin, as I asked for some from my husband as well, and will try and get some more via my daughter.

These calendars will be going out to grandparents and my husband. : )

The microsoft calendars even come with pictures on them already, if you prefer.. really gorgeous ones on nature.
  • Name of present? Astrology chart & interpretation
Make it or buy it? Buy it
    Total Cost? £5.00
Details (the more the better)? There's a website with some inexpensive ones on, the address is https://www.astrology21.co.uk The gifts are attractive accurate and fun and for those of us (like me) who struggle to think of something different to buy each year this website made things easy this christmas! :snow_grin
  • First time I have submitted post- my idea for a festive fiver gift is a girls night in bag - buy a mini bottle of wine £1.50 or similiar alcoholic gift,a bar of chocolate £1 - you can often get a big bar in iceland or home bargains/a £1 bubble bath - always one in offer in Boots or Morrisons/a £1 gift card to buy a magazine with - either asda/boots or wh smith - let your mate choose and 50p fo a nice gift bag which you can get from cheap card shops or usually as a multipack in £1 shops.- (usually at least 2 for a £1).Bath/bottle/a mag to read and chocolate - who needs more !.

If you spend less on wine or a smaller bar of choc you can always get from home bargains hair masks or facemasks at around 45p each.
