  • Name of Present: 100 Reasons Why I love You
    Make or Buy: Make
    Total Cost £3
    Details:

As corny as it sounds, for our 1st annniversary, I wrote down 101 reasons why I love my partner. I then cut the paper up into squares, folded them and then put them in a box to present to him. I wanted to give him a present that he could keep, but that was also thoughtful and original. He thought it was wonderful..and opens a new reason every day!
  • Name of present? Personalised Bottle of Plonk
Do you make it or buy it?Both!
    Total Cost?
A fiver - or less depending on how cheap your alcohol is (you could buy a bottle of beer for a couple of quid)

    Details (the more the better)
I've done this a few times (and made sweeties and other items) - Buy a decentish bottle of wine (supermarkets often have a nice one on offer) run the hot tap and get a scourer to scratch off all labels - using your computer create your own labels with pictures of intended recipient - (MS Publisher has some good templates - but any program will do it) and stick them onto blank bottle... great for other occasions too (anniversaries and weddings) - I did one for my Gran's 90th called "Boozy Millie's Brown Booze" - cus she likes her stout! An another for my mother in law called Aphrodizziac with a picture of Nigel Harman (from eastenders) cus she's smitten by him... as other posts indicate personalised beats price everytime
  • Name of present? VARIETY

    Details (the more the better):
Most parents rummaging through their kid's school bags will ave heard of these people. Yellow moon offer loads of craft type gifts - there are mugs to paint and umbrellas to decorate too. Get the kids to decorate them and give them out as gifts - the great thing about YM is they contribute a % back to your nominated school or group for each purchase! (And youcan order online - no hassle and fast delivery)

Where possible please add a link if it's an online offer:

Name of Present: All sorts of jewellery
Do you make it our buy it: Make it
Cost: Varies - I've amassed tons of beads already, but you can pick them up at jumble sales, charity shops, toy shops, bead shops, craft shops - or even buy something cheap and trendy with decent component bits from a teen boutique and strip it!
Details: Beady girly jewellery is back in again and I always end up drooling at nice pieces from East Additions, Next, Oasis or similar. It's very easy to replicate styles with knotted or sectioned threads and heaps of dangly pretties or to make long beaded strings with a few key beads amongst lots of cheap and cheerful fillers. Earrings don't need much more than pliers and there are lots of sterling silver findings (eg. the ear posts or hooks for pierced ears) available so your jewellery is immediately a class ahead of the high street!

  • Ahhh I must be feeling soppy today- but your post just brought tears to my eyes. my partner and I had a baby boy 6 months ago who was stillborn, and I was really doubly and triply upset for all the other people who were upset about it, especially my mum (expecting first grandchild) and my nan, who is very old and frail, and very excited at the prospect of becoming a great grandma.

I often think about the things you mentioned in my head- now it's time to get them down on paper,

    Thanks,
    Emmie

    Name of present? Magic Snowman

Do you make it or buy it? Buy it

    Total Cost? £4.75

Details (the more the better) I cut this straight from the site...

Think of Christmas and most people will conjour up images of snow, but when was the last time you actually managed to scrape enough snow together (before you hit the grey sludge) to build a snowman? We know what mental torture this is to you every year, and would like to ease your suffering by offering you this wonderful product. For a paltry sum we will rush you a magic snowman all of your own, one to have in pride of place in your home (now you can't do that with a real one!).
All you need to do is pour your supplied gooey stuff into the base of the snowman and wait. In about 12 hours you will be rewarded with a fat, jolly snowman, complete with snow topped broom. Don't suffer any longer, buy yourself a snowman (or more if you're feeling really deprived) and have Christmas how it should be. Your snowman will last a few days if kept indoors, after that he'll start to melt (or should that be moult?).

Where possible please add a link if it's an online offer http://www.lizzybug.co.uk/catalog/Magic-Snowman-p-505.html

They've also got some cheap bits in their special offers section on page 2 which might be worth a look.

Also, they advertise in my local Sainsbury's and have a 10% discount voucher code on the flyer... type in "SLF" without the quotes in the voucher section of the shopping cart. If they ask where the code came from, just say you were in Sainsburys Lyons Farm and picked up a leaflet.
