  • :T Name of Present Cutlery Penknife
    Buy It
    Total Cost: £4.99
    From: http://www.mensgiftshop.com/acatalog/Outdoor_Living.html
Excellent stainless steel camping utility knife, fork, spoon, bottle opener and can opener. Blade is like a normal household knife so not razor sharp for safety. Comes with protective pouch. Great gift for those who enjoy the outdoors and is a great price.
  • Well this is my first time of writing in to this webiste so please excuse any ineptitude, but I reckon one of the best pressies for young or old is a stackable spinning top from Hawkins Bazaar (£4.99) - I have given loads of these now and everyone has been pleased! They cause mayhem and lots of excited shouting of excitement - be warned!!

    See: http://www.hawkin.com/rkmain.asp?PAGEID=20670&STK_PROD_CODE=00069
  • For the family calendar idea you can also use a CD case, open it up and turn it almost inside out to stand up on a desk. You will need to cut the calendar pages to fit though.
  • Name of present? Bouquet of Dreams
Do you make it or buy it? Buy 5 x lucky dip lottery tickets (you can get the same sort of effect from 5 x scratchcards)
    Total Cost? £5.00
Details (the more the better) Everyone loves the chance to win, and just having the lottery tickets gives the present of hope (that THIS time, you'll win) and the chance to dream (of what you'll do with the dosh). Just don't look at the numbers, because you'll be kicking yourself that you gave away a winning ticket!
  • Name of present? Puppy litter
Do you make it or buy it? buy it
    Total Cost? £1.78 each
Details (the more the better): Available from ASDA, made by KidsConnection. They are very cute, soft and cuddley :p . Our son loves them and loves to play 'puppies', with each of us taking a on different one... They could easily be presented in a shoe box with paper to make them comfortable, but don't forget to put holes in the lid.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Last year I took my inspiration from Kim and Aggie....

Name of present: "glam"washing up gloves, for my Mum.
    How much? £2.50 (approx)
Details: I bought her favourite size and make of rubber glove, got some furry boa stuff from the fabric shop and found a plastic ring left obver from one of last year's crackers. then I glued it all together with Bostik and presented it in an ex-chocolate box.

I'm going to try a dustpan and brush this year I think with sequins..you can buy them I know (eg M & S) but they're terribly expenxive compared, and this way you know what quality you are getting too.

  • NAME OF PRESENT: Personalised for everyone
MAKE IT OR BUY IT: Buy it
TOTAL COST: Less than a fiver or even less than a quid
WHAT: Agree with work colleagues 'Xmas present buying clique' that you will each spend less than a quid - or a fiver - on buying each others' presents from a charity shop. You can all be imaginative, creative and rude by buying the most appropriate or inappropriate gift you can find - flasher's mac for the team leader, crimplene skirt for the office goth, jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces for the internet games player. You're only limited by your imagination! And your prezzie money has gone to charity, you've recycled, taken the financial blackmail out of the equation, found something which will really be appreciated, and best of all..........
YOU'LL ALL HAVE A GOOD LAUGH.
  • I know instant messaging is very convenient, but it is still nice to receive letters, especially if you do not own a computer.

Therefore, my suggestion for under a fiver would be:

    a pack of envelopes
    a pad of note paper
    a pen
    a book of stamps.

All this could leave change from a fiver, and quite a few contented relatives.

Name of Present: 'Magic Reindeer food'
Make it or buy it? Make it
Cost? Couple of quid to make lots!
    Details.
Get some 'wages' style envelopes - the type that are reasonably small and are usually used to hold money. Put some glitter in each one. On the front write something like : "Magic Reindeer food - exclusively for Santa's reindeers.
Instructions: Scatter this 'food' on the outside your house on Christmas Eve to attract Santa's reindeers to your house! "

You can sell these at school / church Christmas fetes - kids love them! If you do, you might want to stick a little label on the back saying that it's not really edible! They are also a brill present for your kids to give to their school friends / cousins / childminder for their charges / teachers for their pupils etc.
