Talk Talk Mobile too good to be true

I am a new user and need some guidance. I have eventually ventured to the world of saving money as its nearly christmas and realised I am skint. have just been to Carphone Warehouse to get advice on my large mobile bill, who after looking at it said if I switched to Talk Talk and my mum switched to Talk Talk and got myself a Talk Talk mobile sim for us all that my bill would be reduced by £200 per month?????? How can this be, is it a con? They said that all calls from Talk Talk home phone to a Talk Talk mobile were free.

the web site is complete lacking on prices for calls....so it's hard to find out if the cost of calling other netwroks is more expensive, i'm sure they used to call this "Fresh"

    but it does say

Unlimited free calls from and to any TalkTalk landline phone and vice versa .

    Just to clear this up:

CPW still offers FRESH - it is not connected to TalkTalk Mobile or Landline in any way.

To get the free calls, you need to be calling either another TalkTalk Mobile or TalkTalk landline - the calls between these numbers are and will remain completely free of charge.

TalkTalk Landline is available for free on some plans and you can even get them to do your line rental now (£9.99 compared to BT's £10.49 pcm).

Suggest you pop into a store for a full explanation or wait for the November Buyers Guide which contains full details of the deal.
Treat others as you would like to be treated :A
  • the sales guy said it was 15p per minute to call any network and 7p per text. All my calls would be free to call any Talk talk home phone and for them to call me.
  • First of all it would be best split all of this out and work out where you want to make the savings.

Do you have a BT line and if so is it to BT that you pay your calls to? and do you wish to make savings on your home phone bills?

Then take your mobile and tell us what you currently pay, PAYG or a contract and how TalkTalk reckon they can save you £200 per month. Is that for just you or for you and your Mother?
  • Have a read of this thread below which explains it a bit more about Talk Talk Mobile. All i can say is that you must have had a ginormous mobile phone bills to be saving £200 a month thats a saving of £2400 a year. How much were you paying monthly.

    PF.
  • hey why do you think I am calling myself little miss chaterbox.

I work away from home as a sales rep and my mum and partner look after my kids when i am away. I call my mum and partner every day and they phone me on my mobile every day. I pay for all the phone bills. My mobile bill (vodafone contract) is about £75.00 line rental plus extra £25 for texts and phone calls. Their mobile bills are around £30.00 per month (voda PAYG). Our home phone bills are around £50.00 per month (exc line rental).
Have I a better option apart from not speaking.......
I have insurance on my mobile so I can cancel the contract and bith their phones are unlocked. (is this a carphone thing that they are unlocked)

help much needed, as I have seen some really nice boots that I would like but cant afford them.
  • Lets get this clear your mobile bill is approx £100 a month.Your partners and your mums are £30 a month each. Are their 2 Home Bills at £50 a month,or just 1.
    PF.
  • both their bills are about £50, i pay for them both.
  • I am totally NOT a mobile phone expert, but I do wonder if the tariff I am on would be helpful.

I am on a tariff with OneTel where all calls from my landline to other landlines are free, and calls between my mobile, and my husband's mobile, and the landline are free.

This means that for our monthly payment (ummm think it's about £20, but check on the OneTel.com website) I can talk to my husband at home whenever I like, either on the landline or on his mobile. We can make calls from the home phone to any ordinary landline number (not 0845 or 0870 or 'special' numbers like that) for free. This price includes the rentals (except the BT rental which is about another £11 or £12, sorry to be vague).

In order to do this (with your mobiles) you have to have them on contract, with a OneTel sim card in each, and to have all the calls on one bill. But it does sound as if it might suit you for calling your mum and partner???? Hope so! In any case I thought it might be useful to you to hear about a household that does make a lot of calls (hubby is at home all day every day and uses the phone a LOT as he's disabled) for very little money.

By the way, we have always found that Carphone Warehouse gives very good advice. Talk Talk may be even better for all I know, but ask them about OneTel, just to make sure they have considered this as well - I'll be watching this thread with interest!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • yeah, i am so sceptical about changing. Carphone have always been so good when I have gone for advice about my mobile. and even though i do so much on line I still like face to face service and know i can speak to someone if things go wrong.
Sounds good the one tel thing though I will have to check prices. If i could get all my friends on talk talk too it would save me even more.
