Firstly, Tescos do not deliver for free!
Secondly, the man was rude and made remarks about me that were belied by the second guy that came out.
Thirdly I find your inference that I am using my disability as some sort of 'card' crass, to say the least!
I brought it up, to explain why I needed my shopping taken upstairs. I normally do it myself, but lately have been in some severe pain and am under doctors orders to not lift anything remotely heavy. I needed the assistance for once
Hence the request made.
My fault entirely that I did not mention the cats. But, the way the man spoke to me and about me back at his office is what has got me upset!
People who don't have any pets can smell them more than those who do have them, so the first person probably did think your house smelt abit, he also may of assumed that your cat(s) were out as most cats are during the day.
You have also stated you don't have the luxury of changing stores Asda are cheaper than tesco's.
You also said you got into an argument with the man he may not of liked the way you spoke to him, he is after all human so he may of been upset just as much as you were. It just seems that your trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill to get compensation.0 -
I've got an allergy to wasp stings. I tend to throw my hands around, panic and run off if I see a wasp. I don't know why I do it, and I know I look pretty stupid and probably rude when it happens, but at the time the panic of getting away from the wasp is the only thing on my mind. It could be the driver reacts in the same way.
I think you are taking the smell comment a little too far. Nobody knows exactly what he said to the other driver. It could have been something innocent like "the house smelled of cat" which just stating a fact and any non-cat owners would smell it. My Aunts house is perfectly clean and tidy, yet it still smells of cat! On the flipside she probably thinks my house smells of dog, whereas I can't smell anything in here as I'm used to it.
I don't think you deserve an financial compensation as you haven't suffered any losses and Tesco did send someone along later to carry your shopping upstairs for you. I think you would be best of just chalking it up to experience and moving on.Here I go again on my own....0 -

I have not said I want financial compensation
In fact I have stated several times I DO NOT WANT MONEY I want an apology and for the driver to be disciplined for his attitude0 -
Are any of you actually reading what the op has written?
Morganjeans has made it clear that she is unhappy with the response the original delivery driver made upon seeing her cat. She was unhappy with repeatedly being asked why she could not carry the shopping herself. She further felt insulted by the remark from the second delivery drivers that implied that a discussion had taken place about the cleanliness of her flat.
As she pointed out this is not a free service, she has paid for it and she expects to be dealt with politely.
The very insulting remarks about her playing the disabled card and that other people can smell pets are irrelevant and IMHO untrue.
Actually I think she is more than capable of writing a complaint letter without our ‘help’.
She says that the compensation she wants is for the driver to be reprimanded - I think that the delivery driver should be told that there are more polite ways of dealing with situations like this.0 -
I live in a flat on the ground floor, I am capable of carrying my shopping bags into my flat but the tesco delivery man that delivered about 10 bags of shopping to me 2 nights ago delivered everything straight to my kitchen and I thanked him.
To the point - 1) the driver could have said he was allergic to cats in a polite way. 2) even if the customer's house did smell it was a bit naughty of the 2nd driver to tell the OP what was discussed at their depot about the cleanliness of a customers house or sending him to deal with problem customers.
To the OP - Forget about the silly drivers and try to make an arrangement with the local tesco in question about delivery if you intend to keep shopping with them.0 -

I don't see much of a difference from his attitude to yours really. Should someone discipline you?0 -

you did get good service, tesco were good enough to send a 2nd person around and the same day.
I'm not a cat lover and so yes to me houses with cats have a smell, 2nd driver is clearly a cat lover and doesn't mind. It's a bit like a smoker doesn't notice the smell of thier own cloths but non smokers will.
Yes Tesco are big and that is why they can afford to send around a 2nd driver. You said yourself this was the 2nd drivers job to go around helping customers.0 -
OP
it could have been worse you could have been left with your shopping downstairs and tesco hadnt sent a 2nd driver outNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Yet another case where I'm going to have to be pedantic and tell people it's Tesco - there's no such thing as Tescos!0
