I booked a hotel through these jokers on Thursday 14th August for a stay on Saturday 16th.
When I got to the hotel on Saturday, a room was booked but payment had not been received from hotel-club. Myself and the hotel manager spent an hour on the phone speaking to various call centre agents, and got no where, they had no one available at the weekend to sort this out , very, very poor customer service and highly embarrassing! They told the hotel they would have to wait until Monday morning, which the hotel was not willing to do as they have had previous problems with the owner of this company ORBITZ.
So far from saving me £25 I had to give my credit card to pay the standard rate of £65, £15 more than I would have had to pay if I’d just booked directly with the hotel on their website!
AVOID HOTEL-CLUB like the plague; if anything goes wrong with you booking at the weekend, they have no one available to help!!!
I suggest that anyone that has booked through hotel-club double checks with the hotel before they travel to make sure that payment has been received!
I emailed the hotel where I made a booking in Palma and they replyed to say that my booking is confirmed.
I have now sent an email asking for confirmation that payment has been received.
I will let you know how I go.
update:
The reply to my email: We cannot confirm the payment as you don’t pay directly to the hotel but to a third party. We bill this third party after your arrival. I can only say that I have a confirmed booking on your name.

And that is the problem the previous poster had. The hotel didn't understand that they were supposed to invoice the company for the room and charged the guest instead. Some hotels even charge the guest and send an invoice to the booking agent also!
This scenario is very common at hotels whose staff have 'training issues'.lil_miss_sunshine wrote: »Hmmm ive just book a sunday night in Palma with hotel club...

It's not the best idea. The hotel will soon wise up to you, but it would be an idea if you were happy to change hotels every night of your stay.0 -

You could if you're happy to check in and check out on each day of your stay.

Oh ok thanks, do you think that the hotel club will stop it or anything?
Also, i cant find the contact details for the hotel to find out if they've been paid..0 -
Just booked a double room including breakfast at the Kimberley Hotel, Harrogate for £49 after using the £25 hotelclub deal. WOW. Went through Cashback Kings too, Will be even better if the £15 tracks there also.0

I used this deal for myself and two friends to stay in London at hostels over 4 days. The total cost is yet unknown as I am told that I will be billed for some nights because "some hotels/hostels only accept payment direct from customers".
We had severe difficultly explaining to our first hostel, The Generator, that we had infact ALREADY paid via hotelclub, and subsequently went elsewhere (this hostel, we are told we will be charged for regardless of this fact.
Our second stay was seemless. The Acacia recognised us as fully paid customers instantly and we plan to stay there later this week.
The final place, Picadilly Backpackers, notified us that one of us had been sent an email explaining that their room had in fact not been booked as previously told, and so we had to pay £20+ for that night (other hostels may have been available but it was getting late+tired etc). Otherwise here our stay was seemless.
I will be back with names of the good and the bad hostels in London re:this deal.0 -
I opened an account and made a booking.
But there was no mention of the 25 pound discount during the procedure.
They charge a deposit to your credit card and you must pay the balance to the hotel
??????????????

Yes, on some of the hotels the £25 is deducted as you book online, however, most of them just deduct the deposit and state that the balance is payable on arrival so I'm wary about going ahead.
I saw Shell2407's posting after yours who was 'not convinced' until she checked her bank account and saw the £25 deduction. This is a gamble I feel unsure about taking.
Anyone else in my predicament?0 -
Hi,
Just thought you might be interested in my feedback.
I was looking to stay at the Euston Square hotel, 1st and 2nd December 2008.
I tried one of the normal hotel discount sites, and I obtained around 7 quotes, 6 were for around £176, and one for £260! ( including "free" breakfast!)
I then tried this site, and it quoted me £198, a whopping £22 MORE than 6 of the 7 other sites I tried!
I think I can see how they can 'give' you $49 / £25!0 -
And here's my feedback - booked a hotel in Rio for two nights, 2 or 3 days in advance. Separate bookings with different e-mail addresses and £25 deducted instantly from each. Had a bit of a problem, booking online within Brazil for a Brazil hotel - Hotel Club's revenue protection team asked for a scanned copy of my passport & credit card to honour the booking. Otherwise, it all worked, nothing to pay at the hotel which saw the booking as one and a significant discount on all other online rates.
Now, I've just got to chase cashback kings for the cash back!
