Well it'll actually be Tuesday as Monday is Australia Day so no work for me

Afternoon all
Day hasnt been bad
I made a whole 12 pounds today by selling my old phone my friend in ireland gave me the website address. So they are sending me an chq and envelope to post it off so they can recycle it.
Once i remember website i shall post the link here for anyone who is interested.
Checked with new bank all dd's and so's are there and correct although balance is still missing   or should i say not transferred over and i have a dd out on monday and its not going to happen lol. Will call them and switch it. I cant even go and withdraw the money as apparently the machine will just eat my card since im leaving and transfer just about complete.
hope you are all well and its the weekend yipeee and its pay day on tuesday yipppeee its been a long 5 weeks and one day :mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

Gulp! I have just totted up my total debt and it is just over £52,000.
I know I've been heading down a slippery slope for years on-and-off and have consolidated twice in the past.
I have just been reading worried jim's thread and it has motivated me to fill in the form on Payplan which I did before thinking too much about it, otherwise I would have chickened out!
Realistically, I know I am in a luckier position than a lot of other people; I have no dependants; I don't own my home so have no risk of repossession and my outgoings are lowish because I share with a friend.
My income is about £2000 a month and my outgoings are:
Rent: £500
Car insurance: £19.99
Mobile phone: £29.99 (plan to ditch contract when up and go PAYG)
LoveFilm DVD subscription: £5.00 a month (cheaper than blockbusters)
All bills are inclusive and food we go halves on.
I know for a fact I could be much more efficient with food shopping and cooking at home. Like I have said on a previous post, I plan to stop buying magazines and needless trips to the shop for chocolate and rubbish also are going to stop.
I don't think I am suitable for a DMP purely because I can pay the minimum amounts on all my debts and I know with some budgeting, I could probably find extra to put towards it.
If I could just get my interest frozen so I feel like I am getting somewhere.
I haven't told my flatmate about my situation as I am mortified about my shameless stupidity over the years.:o
It looks like single and renting are going to be my way of life for a long long time and I have no one else to blame but myself.
Anyone here with Payplan? Any ideas about whether they will suggest a DMP or not - or even if I should just get on with it as I am?
Thanks in advance.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Hiya
and welcome
well done though in realising you need help to me that was my biggest step.
This site is great and everyone is so helpful
Iv only been here for a month and iv learned so much and iv sold my old fone today and before joining here i would of just dumped it.
Meal planning helps me as im too single no dependants and live in rented flat I cook big dinners and freeze them and i plan weekly what im having so i dont overspend and i also look for bargains which i didnt do before.
Im not on a payplan im with debt management plan. my credit card only froze interest for a year and now im back to square one with them in fact i owe more than what i did to begin with which is frustrating.
I also stopped buying magazines and i just dont pop to shops anymore just because i feel like wine or choc when iv had a bad day. its hard to stop shopping like it is for smokers to stop smoking but once my head was in the right zone i started to feel it a lot easier and with the support on here as well helped.
good luck and you will get lots of advice and help:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

Hello everybody :hello:
Happy Friday, here's to the weekend  Have been reading the thread all week but have been too busy to post. Have just posted this on my diary, after all my whingeing last weekned!
:j a better week all round :j
Still been manic at work but have got everything up-to-date today. Have had some lovely compliments this week about the job I'm doing so feeling much more positive. Still nothing definate on the redundancy issue but the 'feeling' seems to be that I'll be safe - so fingers crossed
And so to the list!- lose 2lbs - done
- meal plan and stick to it - whoops!
- 3 NSD's - 2 so not too bad!
- 3 exercise sessions -only managed one!
- sort out electricity bill - done

Been invited to the first night dinner of the event I've been organising tomorrow so have that to look forward to - and it'll be no spending too! :j
Next week is still going to be busy so am setting myself a manageable list!- lose 2lbs
- 2 NSD's
- 2 exercise sessions
- meal plan and stick to it

Bear with me guys,
I'm on a different browser & it's like being drunk; everythings a bit diferent.
Well done on the phone mags & well done on the weight loss shoegal :j
Jenevieve, welcome & congrats on having a full LBM . I dont know anything about payplan, but have filled in the budget / debt advice on the cccs website but then decided to deal with debts myself, not that it's doing me much good at the moment & seriously considering gooing down the dmp route myself
If you post up your SOA on the main DFW forum then experts will swoop down from every corner & give you loads of advice on how to cut your outgoings to a bare minimum
I find it really helps to join in the challenges as you feel solidarity with others doing the same & I feel a huge sense of failure & letting everyone down if i dont complete them. My faves are the weekly spend challenge, £2 coins savers & of course my own crazy £100 clothes challenge ( shameless plug).
I think the main thing to realise is that however much you think you're being frugal... you can cut down more until you get to the point that you feel sick about just how much money you have wasted over the years unnecessarily... or is that just me.
either way I wish you all the best of luck & will be cheering you on as long as sarah allows me to stay ...

Hello you lovely lot! :hello:
SuSu here, even though this message comes from HeWhoDares. HeWhoDares is my brother (he's the one who introduced me to MSE me in the first place) - I'm up here visiting for the weekend. 195 drive = 5 1/2 hours  First 190 were okay, but it then took me an hour to do 2 miles :eek:
Anyway, I'm using his computer so for now I'm HeWhoDares!
Blimey, I started this message an hour ago - got distracted by my nephews coming home - lovely little fellas have gone to bed now and I can't remember all the insightful stuff I was going to say :rotfl:
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I know I haven't been online a lot this week, but it's been mad busy at work and I don't want to go on the computer when I get home cos my shoulder's still a bit stiff, so have spent every evening watching the 1st series box set of Prison Break! It was ACE and the lead actor (Wentworth Miller, I think) is DELISH!!
Quick update on stuff... Should get my Thames Water rebate (£946) next week - only taken 12 months  it's finally sorted. And.... I got my early loan repayment quote back and I'm lucky cos it's not £250 per £1,000 borrowed, but just 6 weeks' interest, so :T Anyway, have decided not to pay it off early, but will let it run till its course (till March 2010). Will instead use savings to buy a new car, probably in June - am going to get a 12 month old Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Diesel 3 dr car for, well, they're listed as £7,987 but will haggle. Am v excited about it! :j
So, TDQO - just wanted to say that I agree with Sarahb about the garden party. If they're anything like the 30-something Aussies I know, the last thing you need to worry about is being bored - you should worry more about being able to keep up with their alcohol consumption :rotfl:
Sarahb - carp news about the car, but hopefully it'll all be under warranty and you won't have to spend any money. Fingers crossed, eh. :grouphug:
Glad you're enjoying the Being Happy book, btw. It's fab isn't it! I also got the "over 40" book, but haven't started it yet. I agree about the irrelevance of the stat that there's only a 2.6% chance of women over 40 getting married. Unless they show the % for other age groups it's largely irrelevant. For all we know, the chance of getting married is 5% in your 20s and 17% in your 30s. Without a point of reference, the stat has no point.
Oh jeez, I'm rambling. Note to self: don't post after hours cramped in the car followed by a brew and a _party_ smoke
Okay - gonna go! Catch up with you lovely lot soon!!0 -

Jeniveve, I would also recommend the what small DFW thing have you done today thread, keep meaning to post on there but never get round yo it, if you post on it daily it might help to see the tiny steps written down, they all add up.I think the main thing to realise is that however much you think you're being frugal... you can cut down more until you get to the point that you feel sick about just how much money you have wasted over the years unnecessarily... or is that just me.
Exactly, I know know that if I avoid the shops I can really manage on very little. Just need to put it into practice.:o You are right Lula, it does make you feel a bit sick, I could have a house by now:rolleyes: Am going to put £100 in my purse at the beginning of Feb and see how long I can make it last.either way I wish you all the best of luck & will be cheering you on as long as sarah allows me to stay ...
lula
:rotfl: Of course you can:D (can't allow one of my fellow spinsters an escape route or they will all be trying it.):D
