  • Hi, the account is still open. The cheque actually surprised me, as i have a OD with them which is now on a repayment loan so i thought my money would just go back into the account if anything (not that I am complaining).
No, I don't have any priority debts, I would just be using this to clear the overdraft etc, but I am thinking that I should try for the whole ammount, but don't know what to do about cashing the cheque?
    Thanks
It can't help asking them the question but don't send the cheque back and wait for them to state final offer.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Have now had 2 refusals for hardship from Nationwide so I don't know whether it is worth sending them any more letters have sent them 2 statements of means 1 showing just under -200 a month and one over -200 plus loads of other letters to do with bailiffs and things like that. I have been with the FOS for a while so I suppose it is just time to wait for them they seem to be taking there time. I have done a new statement with the CAB which I sent to the FOS
but don't see the point in sending Nationwide anything anymore.
    help gratefully received.
  • Hi not sure what i am doing but i applied to HSBC 6months ago with two claims £8500 and £2500 I asked them to consider mt financial position as i was in motgage arrears, going through a IVA charges of £1200 on a secured loan struggling to pay water and using pre payment gas/elec card also a young baby. they offered me £900 to pay off my mortgage arrears which i accepted but my sitiuation has not altered and i am now on maternity leave with no pay but the don't seem bothered now as they say i have accepted this payment and will have to await the out come of the court case.
Is this right or can i still go ahead with my claim as life is really no fun.

:confused:I've been trying to claim from Halifax, have gone down the financial hardship path. They offered me £105 plus three months "free" banking (ie: they wouldn't apply any charges if I went overdrawn). With statutory interest they owe me in excess of £4000. I went to the FOS - heard from them this morning. They agree with Halifax and have recommended that I accept the £105.00. What do I do now? Help!

I have answered you on another thread so I hope you use the approach outlined if we haven't gone past the FOS' deadline.

They declined you again with their own income and expenditure form?

Is the Nationwide account still open?
What are the debt collectors for? The priority debts would be with Court appointed bailiffs and not debt collectors.

  • Reading that as i have recieved over £500 in charges i could claim under hardship rules, i wrote to hsbc to tell them so. Unfortunately i still have to show that i am in hardship via an income and expenditure form. The fact that my partner pays the rent but i pay for everything else makes me look like i spend loads of money on non essential items so will never succeed. Is there any way to get round this? Does anyone have any tips?
