Was there any PPI?
Is there any room on your income and expenditure for reducing outgoings such as reducing any insurances? Do you have a childminder that can be dispensed with?
Apologies, am looking at everything so to speak.0 -
Received £112.50 from Barclays for my financial hardship. The claim has now been closed? My original claim was for £448 roughly so from what I can gather it's a 25% offer the money is now in my account.
What is the next step as the rest of my claim is now awaiting the outcome of the test case?0 -
sorry, what is PPI?
I have everything as cheap as possible. Phone, mobile, gas, electric, everything all on the cheapest tariffs. I use my mum for any babysitting, I have to have contents insurance as part of my tenancy agreement, I pay the minimum on my credit card which I would change to a 0% interest but no one will give me one as i'm unemployed.
the thing that bugs me is that if I had exaggerated my expenditure to HSBC I could have got more back but by being honest and showing I was doing my best to curb my spending I thought it might help my case, if anything it made it worse. Stupid me.0 -

13.16.b
"(b) in relation to such complaints, if the outcome of the test case produces a result that is more favourable to the complainant, the firm must take all reasonable steps to pay any difference in the amount of compensation actually received by the complainant and that that the complainant would have been entitled if his claim has not been settled by the firm then;"0 -
I'll just leave it then, I am happy with 25% considering that amount I claimed.
Thanks for your advice, any idea why they sent me a letter saying I was getting !!!!!! all, only to send me another letter (arrived today but dated 16/7/09) giving me 25%?0 -
The other thing is I asked if there was any room for negotiation with regards to their offer (had read on MSE that you could try and negotiate) and the lady at HSBC said this was all they were allowed to offer (e.g making up the difference on your bills) and she couldn't change it just for me but looking at what other people have received that doesn't make sense, unless of course they had huge outgoings....0

That is why I was trying to see whether there was any room for any savings.0 -
I need some advice please.
My hubby and I wrote to NatWest in March 2008 to try and reclaim his bank charges (£1785.00). We received a letter back saying it was on hold due to the test case.
We wrote again in June this year (using template letters from here) and asked for the interest to be paid also as we are in financial hardship, they wrote back and sent us a form to fill in. We did this and returned it the next day along with copies of bank statements and bills etc. We asked for a response back from them within 7 days (which would have been Tuesday) and have not heard anything from them.
Also, last week, they added more charges of £70.00 to this account!!!
I have written again yesterday saying unless we receive a written response from them within in 7 days (of yesterdays letter) we will contact the Finanical Ombudsman. Was I right to do this?
My hubby and I are getting really desperate for money and are having to borrow from our families to try and keep afloat!
Please can anyone offer their insight?0 -
