I'm not sure DSRs are ever removed. Happy to be corrected but I've never heard of it happening.
In the event of an against-policy feedback removal, I can't see them removing the DSRs too.

Just a snippet from an email from eBay:
"In this instance the feedback will be removed for the following reason
as part of our Feedback Removal Policy:

"Statements that are negative enough to conflict with a positive
    rating."

To read all of our feedback removal criteria, copy the following link
into a new browser window. Click "Show" next to Additional Information.

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-abuse-withdrawal.html

If you're a seller and you had received Detailed Seller Ratings as part
of this buyer's feedback, please be aware that these will also be
removed and your Detailed Seller Rating scores will be recalculated. "

So it appears they will remove them.

ArmitageShanks, I took it that Soolin meant top searching as opposed to lower searching status. Sure she'll be along to tell us the secret if she is enhanced searching.

Ok, on my account I have noticed there are two sets of figures. One of the front page which relates to 12 month DSRs and the one on your dashboard which relates to the last 30 days so the figures I quoted earlier were the last 30 days which affect my search status.

    The last 12 months read:
    Item as Described 4.8
    Communication 4.8
    Dispatch Time 4.8
    Postage 4.7

So there must be a formula to be applied to make sure you get optimum DSR and I have a feeling it means lots of sales per month. Does anybody know please?

    Thanks.

When 'enhanced' was mentioned, I was thinking why haven't we got it! Our DSR 5.0, 4.9, 5.0, 4.7, and our rating is standard. You could well be right!

Yes if you're a small seller one buyer can severely dent your DSR and two can destroy it. For example we've just started selling from a second ccount (mainly so we've got somewhere we can fall back on if ebay suspend us etc.). Before today we were on 5.0, 4.9, 5.0, 4.8 (from 16 feedbacks), but now we are (4.9, 4.7, 4.8,4.6) (from 17 feedbacks, all positive). Not so much of a problem for us as it should soon be back up, but it underlines how perilous the trading conditions are for the small, occasional seller.

As for your predicament. If you can only get to the post office a few times a week, try and time your listings to end, to coincide with when you can (impossible if you use BIN). Larger items or anything that costs more the £6.95 with RM use a courier- reduce your costs and delivery time. Communication, we just send one email thanking of payment and confirming a dispatch date, I expect you do something like this anyway. Make sure descriptions are clear, personally not a fan of fancy fonts or to much colour, again I expect that your conscious of this anyway.

In the short term....may be worth selling a few really cheap items just to get your rating up, before selling anything of value. Especially as depending what sector you sell in if you've got a lowered rating it's probably not worth bothering.

Blimey then there's no hope for any of us! Soon we will all be lower searches, so somebody has to arrive at the top.

I can get to the P.O. everyday and do so. I think there is a misunderstanding from buyers about dispatch and delivery times and mixing the two. I also use a courier where RM is not feasible, but believe that my postage price DSR is affected (as there is no price on the box?). And yes I do the dispatch note as well. My descriptions are very clear and point out any flaws - very basic font and black text.

I have two accounts - one for OH's old toys and other rubbish of his (rating 495 100%) and the second account for children's toys, clothes etc. The second account has 94 (have just sold another 18 items which might help the DSR?) so although it is a little way off from the first, I have plenty of cr*p to put on. Great advice about putting on the cheap items. Have decided I may as well put all 200 items on dead cheap if I can stomach listing them for this Thursday!

    Thanks for the advice. :T

No probs. Just to clarify in the ebay school report our search standing is 'standard'. I was just wondering from what Soolin was saying if there is lowered, standard, enhanced'.

Personally I think the postage cost DSR is the least important of the lot, as long as its 4.6 or higher that's fine, buyers can see what the cost is so it shouldn't really be an issue. Ours is 4.7 and I'm not actively trying to increase it.

You can do everything right, but there's only so much you can do, and ultimately you're at the mercy of some things which are out of your control; buyers who can't read or/and are idiots, plus postal issues (which are our biggest headache). One thing you should be able to rely on is that your luck will change for the better and ebay should become less of a hassle!

There's only mention of standard and lower on eBay for us standard sellers:
    Search Standing
As an eBay seller, your visibility in Best Match search results depend on the quality of customer service you offer. By clicking the Search standing button of the dashboard summary, you can see whether you have Standard or Lowered Search standing. You can also see how your rating is calculated using your buyer satisfaction and detailed seller ratings.
To qualify for a Standard standing, make sure your ratings meet or exceed the required minimum levels in Detailed Seller Ratings. You can see the minimum levels and how your business compares to them on the Search standing summary.
A Lowered standing indicates that you have not been successful in providing eBay buyers with good customer service. If you get this standing, your listings may receive lower placement in search results sorted by Best Match. But you can take positive steps to improve your customer service and increase your ratings.

"I post all my items on Monday's - should you require your winning item sooner, then drop me a line" is what I put on the main description and at the checkout.

I don't understand how I can be marked down for dispatch time, when I clearly state that it could be a while lol.

It's two different things though. I buy something from you and can see you are likely to be a slow despatcher, but I agree to that when I buy so you get a positive . However when I am faced with the stars it doesn't say 'did the seller post when they stated they would' it just asks what my experience was of the despatch time, so I mark it as a 3 or 4* because that is all it was. I was happy but not as happy as I would be with having had the item posted within 48 hours.

5* for items posted in 24 or 48 hours , less stars if it is not even if I am warned in advance as it is my experience of the transaction, not how accurate the seller was with their time frames.

As a seller I had something similar myself recently. I started selling a ne wline and was unhappy with my standard packaging as it looked untidy and I wasn't 100% sure how well it arrived. I bought a trial set of new packaging that was tailor made for this item but it cost me 40p per shot more than my usual packaging and my stars dropped down to 4.7 and were dropping all the time when I checked the decimal points. I had to go back to my original packaging which I think look untidy but shaves 40p off the costs..and my stars went back up again.

Soolin, am I correct in thinking you're not a powerseller? If so how do you have enhanced search status? I recently noticed we're getting 20% off our fees, but we're not a PS (although we qualify for gold).

I may be wrong but I thought this was all reserved for PS??

I'm not a power seller as I decided to back off from ebay and stop selling a number of my 'old' lines. However ebay confused me recently by putting up a sort of flash box when I logged in saying that I had exceptional standing and my items were enhanced in the visibility..yet my seller dashboard still only shows the highest level of visibility.

I rather suspect they got themselves muddled somehow which never surprises me. However when I do a guest search without logging in my items do often show better than some power sellers, which I don't think should happen  Frankly I get more confused each time i use ebay, not less.
