Yeah that's right, not many people use Macs.
Apple is only the third largest computer manufacturer in the US, has seen a 41% growth in computer sales since last year, and has shipped 2.5 million computers in the past three months.
:rolleyes2
It could be lots of people use macs but none of your figures actually indicate in any way the number of mac users as a proportion of computer users. Could be 0.1% or 49%, neither of which contradict your figures."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The point I was making was that a computer company that sells 2.5 million computers in the space of three months could hardly be accused of having "not many people" use their products.
But, I get what you're saying. I think Apple have an 8% share of the US market, up from 6% last year. Still a long way behind HP's 32% share, but Apple's market share is growing three times faster than HP's. However, these figures are for the total computer market; they don't separate business and home users. Apple are mostly a consumer technology company, so I would think their share of domestic users would be higher than 8%.
I don't know what percentage of the world computer market Apple have, but I would imagine its substantially lower. Macs are high-end computers, and so they probably sell mostly in the world's wealthier countries.0 -
Lots of threads seem to be getting diverted into tedious arguments about Macs vs pc's vs Linux atm.
I agree. It happens because whenever someone mentions an Apple product, someone complains. Then the thread ends up as a discussion on the merits of Macs vs. PCs.
I really don't see how mentioning a Mac is any different from mentioning a Dell or HP or Acer, but apparently it is.0 -
Apple is related to AVG false positives (specific to the OP) because...? If it's simply to suggest the OP buys an entirely new computer (hardly moneysaving) then you may as well advise buying an Acorn or O/S 2 IBM or a smart phone or pda. All of which are probably far more secure than an Apple anyway."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The question was how often you run your anti-virus. Someone said they don't run an anti-virus because they own a Mac. And that's when the usual complaining started.
Mentioning Apple isn't always an attempt to start a fight with PC-owners you know.0 -
If apple was so good though they would be the TOP sellers of pc's and laptop's but woohoo their NOT!!!
and the simple reason why there are not as many trojans/viruses on an Apple is because there are not enough out there for hackers to bother their ar*es making onesIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

I take it you think McDonald's is the best restaurant in the world?
You'd be a cheap date!and the simple reason why there are not as many trojans/viruses on an Apple is because there are not enough out there for hackers to bother their ar*es making ones
There are millions and millions of Mac users. By your logic, all the crime in Britain would happen in London because that's where the most people are.0 -
yep that makes sense......crime in london and apples/pc'sIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
