I find the same with most popper wraps that they are too big on the legs of my dd who is tiny at a year old.
Wacky Wraps are good as they are popper but can fit tiny legs! Applix wraps are better IMO at newborn age. I think maybe try a different brand, can recommend loads to you but do think Motherease are a good one!
Non bio - just to not irritate a new babies skin. Bio powders can irritate delicate skin. If you use bio for all washing, then try it with your nappies and if no reaction, use that instead. As long as you rinse until there is no soap left in the machine, there shouldnt be any problems!0 -
My wife is expecting our first child in 3 months and she wants to use terries/reuseable nappies whenever possible.
Having visited Mothercare at the weekend there didn't seem to be much choice, only there own starter kits.
Are we looking in the right place for them?
Is anyone using them and what advice can you give us about using them?0 -
I used terry nappies on alternate days. I found it such hard work with all the washing and drying that I couldnt keep up so went down to alternate days with them. I felt like a failure at the time but looking back i suppose I did better than people who use disposables all the time.
I bought a starter kit from Boots at the time (this was 13 years ago) as this was all that was available at the time but I know that now there are much more things on offer online. The beauty of terry nappies though is that if you look after them properly you can use them again (as I did) on your next child.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
there are several threads on cloth nappies (if you can get the search thread to work) and lots of options - first port of call should be to get in touch with a nappy advisor, https://www.thenappylady.co.uk has an advice questionairre that is a good place to start or see if there's a lollipop advisor near you http://www.teamlollipop.co.uk/ or look at the advice sections of http://www.babykind.co.uk/index.htm and http://www.lizziesrealnappies.co.uk/
it will depend a lot on how often you want to do the washing, what drying options you have etc and it's best not to buy loads until you know how big your baby is and then it may be worth getting starter kits with a mix of terry type, prefolds and shaped nappies to see which you prefer...0 -
www.thenappylady.co.uk is good. Have a read of all the information there, and it tells you the pro's and con's of different systems. I used their advisor who recommended the Motherease nappies.
If you want to save money and don't mind second hand, have a look on Freecyle and parenting forums. Here I go again on my own....0 -

The mother-in-law has kept the terries she used for my now wife. I couldn't possibly tell you how many years that is! (freak).0 -
Hi there,
I run my own business selling nappies locally (and on Ebay) and the reason i started my own business is because i love them...and they are quite addictive:rolleyes:
My youngest daughter is 2 years old and she has been in cloth nappies since she was 6 weeks old.
I believe the best advise i could give you is to buy a range of different ones, then you cant find the ones that suit yourselves and baby. Theres nothing worse than buying a huge pack of one kind of nappies only to find that you dont get on with it at all!
If you would like any advice/info i am more than happy to help...just PM me;)
Oh i forgot..Congrats! and Goodluck:beer:Best Wishes

I have just bought a load of reusable nappies from Ebay.
Yes they are second hand but the are spotless and will fit from birth to potty trained!
They are put on just like disposables (no pins just velcro) but they can be washed and used again.
They cost me £127 inc postage and I got loads of extras too, ie buckets, liners, nappy soak powder.
I used terries on my first but as He got bigger and wrigglier I was nervous of stabbing him with the pins and the nappies weren't as secure. (perhaps i was fastening them wrongly!)
These modern reusables look much more comfy too. They do sell brand new birth to potty packs on there too if you don't fancy second hand ones, watch a few auctions first and then look up the makes on their own websites to find which ones might suit you best.
Hope this helpsLook atfer the Pennies and the ££££'s will care for themselves :money:0 -
Have a look on the green board, they love them over there!

hi, its such a minefield out there, different brands, sizes, shapes etc...two of my friends use reuseables...i asked which ones and both said terries...so thats what i did...so easy to fold...they grow with your childs size, no nappy pins now..its all nappy nippas..fab things...couldn't be doing with all this "buy a couple of each type and see whats best" lark"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...
until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it"
