  • Bam I wouldnt feel too jealous, It was only because of the cut, you know when you get a cut that makes the trouser almost like a whole size bigger? thats why... they werent baggy round my tummy but were round my thighs, which is where a guage how fat i feel! normally I wear a 12 but they are tight round my thighs and just right on my belly, i struggle to get them over my thighs most mornings, think im a 12 belly but 14 thigh but i would rather struggle than have a gap round my waistband. but today my trousers feel normal because they are my normal work trousers - slim feeling gone i'm bursting at the seam!

Its just amazing how much of a difference it makes having baggy trousers it subconciously makes you feel slimer! lol

Anyway - I did it today was my first day of swimming so I feel very proud of myself. I struggled a bit cause I am a rubbish swimmer but I did 12 lengths in about 20-25 mins. never thought i would make it to a pool at 7.30 AM!! but I did and feel much better for it. So my next day is wednesday. Only bad thing about getting up earlier is that I have wanted my lunch since 11am !! not used to getting up and eating at half 6 im used to nearly 8!! lol...

weighed myself on Sat and was 10st 9.4lbs so not even a lb less than the sat before but hey ho, as I said i never did any exercise but now i am so hopefully will go in the right direction.

Good luck with the shakes! even the thought of that is making me queezy!!

    How is everyone's monday???

Good luck with Lipotrim today Steph...the headaches are totally normal and don't forget to keep drinking that water.

You must be determined to shift those last few pounds getting up at 7.30am to going swimming Belle...well done you.

I have managed to lose four pounds this week and am pleased...was hoping for more but if I can lose 2lbs next week that will keep me on target for 10 stone by my wedding.

    Have a great day ladies. x x
  • Well done you Bam! :T

Yesterday turned into a complete disaster! I tried to make fish cakes last night but made the mash too wet so I couldn't form them. I was swearing at my mash like nothing you heard before (not sure what good it was doing) H2B got really annoyed because I was annoyed and ended up chucking me out the kitchen and ordered an Indian takeaway! I did try to not have too much but I ate 1 meat samosa the chicken from a chicken tikka masala and quarter of a garlic naan to mop up the sauce from the chicken... I didn't poor the sauce on my plate like i used to just the chicken and the sauce on that.. Felt soooo naughty last night. Weighed myself thismorning to find i'm back up to 10st 11lbs - I'm sure it was the indian last night :o

I managed to rescue the salad that I had made to go with the cakes last night and rescued a small amount of the mixture and chucked it in the frying pan not flat not shaped but cooked - i had that for my lunch today.

as it;s tuesday i will be having the normal tortellini and grated cheese, but i will text my H2B and tell him not to cook so much!

To top it off today I have the overwhelming craving for Chocolate and I knooowww there are yummy choccie things over in the tin at work because every biscuit round they are offered to me and every time i say no (kinda wish they just wouldnt ask anymore!) im trying not to listen to the craving though, I think its only because of the added salt and sugar in the takeaway that my body wants a top up??!!

4 hours till i finish work 7 hours till i can go home :(

    Hi all,

Just thought I'd pop in and give a bit of support to those going about things "old school"...I've never really been that big, never really been much into dieting and never really thought I could lose weight...but once I left uni, started working etc, I guess I didn't really notice, but the amount of exercise I did dropped off, the amount of junk I started eating crept up and ultimately my weight did too...

About 7 weeks ago I decided enough was enough and I had to do something about it. So I've switched from coke and stuff to water, stopped snacking and started watching what I'm eating and portion size a little more. Still have the occasional take out, treat etc, not being religious about it, just doing what I can.

Coupled with that, I've started running (once or twice per week), bought a new mountain bike (once or twice per week) and made sure I get into the 5-a-side match at work every week. 7 weeks later I've managed to lose somewhere between 14 and 18lbs (my scales are a little flakey) and am definitely starting to see changes in my body shape.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and reassure you all that you can see real results from good old fashioned common sense...Please pop into the exercise and daily chat thread if you want to join me, G-G and others in logging our efforts :)
  • Hi All

Havent posted for a couple of days so umm where did I get to...?

Well plans changed on Tuesday and I ended up cooking as what I normally do on a Tuesday was cancelled, so we ended up with spag bol but I needed comfort so we had real mince instead of lentils. I then had the left overs (breakfast bowl full) of that the next day for lunch. So yesterday I had cereal for breakfast spag bol and yog for lunch chicken and cous cous for tea and a hot choc in the evening.

Today I was meant to have toast but I nearly burnt the house down as the toaster decided not to work properly and the house filled with smoke! so I had a go ahead bar when I got to work, just had a tuna salad and going to have my yog soon. Tonight I am round my maid of honours house having a trial run with hair so she is cooking me tea - fajitas :D

I went swimming yesterday morning again, was only in the pool for 20mins this time and did 14 lengths, which considering on Monday I did half hour and 12 lengths dont think thats bad.. I'm a really weak swimmer so i'm proud of myself! H2b is picking up the dance mat tonight from the post office *yay*

will let you know if a week of swimming has helped or whether the plans were foiled by the indian takeaway! lol

How is every one else?? How is the shake diet going

    xx

    Hi all,

I am trying to lose a bit of weight before my wedding too. When I started I was about 11st 7lbs and about a size 12/14. I am trying to lose about a stone, apparently my ideal weight for my height (5'7") is 10st but I am quite heavy boned and I would look silly at 10st, so I am aiming for 10st 7lbs but if I decided I'm happy before I get to that weight then I'll stop.

I've been doing it the good old fashioned calorie counting way, using www.foodfocus.co.uk to log everything I eat, and my exercise. It's quite an eye opener to learn how much calories things have in! I'm also trying to get myself to the gym a bit more, I play netball once or twice a week and then try to go to the gym twice. It's not as easy as it could be because of netball injuries that are slowly getting better, but I can't run much at the moment as my achilles flares up.

So I had lost half a stone in about 6 or 7 weeks, but this week I have put a couple of pounds back on after a bad food weekend so I need to get back into it.

In the past I've tried loads of things as my weight has gradually crept up since uni, but I've never been able to stick to it. I'm finding the calorie counting easy though.

The half a stone has made such a difference to me, I feel loads better and have been trying on wedding dresses I would never have picked before. I can actually imagine that I might have a flat belly some time in the not so distant future! Am trying to do lots of abs/core work so that when I do lose the weight my muscles will be ready and toned - plus having a strong core helps with playing netball.

So I will keep an eye on this thread and will let you all know how I am getting on, it's good to hear everyone elses experiences and good for motivation.

I always get people saying I don't really need to lose weight, but I find that frustrating because it's something I want to do for myself, no I don't desperately need to but I would like to and it will make me feel more confident - I don't want to worry about my belly showing as I walk down the aisle, I want to walk down feeling brilliant!

Ooh and a tip about the spag bol - if you don't fancy having it with lentils, try the veggie mince, you can buy it from the freezer section. Very tasty and low calorie. It's worth looking at the veggie alternatives to most stuff as they are lower calorie and they taste good. We have fooled plenty of meat eating friends by serving up linda mccartney country pies! Quorn sausages are great, as are the burgers, plain quorn fillets instead of chicken will suck up the flavour of whatever you cook it in. Plus it's cheaper and you don't have to cook it for as long, there's no danger of food poisoning!

Right, just realised what a very long post this is!

    Hiya all :)

Hope you all doing well on your plans.

I have been eating well (avoiding choccy & crisps) and eating lots of veggies...and cycling to work everyday so I am hoping for a loss this week.
I get married 31 weeks today...so I have to keep focused lol.

I was a bit naughty last night and drank a full bottle of Blossom Hill wine all to myself...and I TOTALLY enjoyed it.
First time I have had any alcohol for about 6 months so I deserved a little treat.

    Have a great weekend ladies. x x
  • Hiya

Well Did more swimming yesterday! :D aaand signed up to Direct Debit now so I dont have to pay anymore when I want to go (£3.50 each time this week!) so I might up it to 5 days because i missed not going on Tuesday and Thursday...

Also picked up my dance mat and had a go at that - i had forgotten how unco-ordinated I am!! lol missed nearly every beat apart from to Murder on the dance floor that one seemed easier?! nearly fell over loads too oh well it was fun though.

Food wise not been too bad - H2B wanted chips from chippy last night after shopping so I had small portion, I have said to him no more take aways this month after 2 in one week and im meant to be on a diet and money saving! apart from that just brekkie (cereal) and left over fajitas yesterday, today brekkie - cereal, tuna salad for lunch, salmon boiled pots and salad for tea, snack has been two jacobs thins. Probably have desert of HM Rice pudding tonight as mum is over.

Oh another good thing (health wise really) is I have cut down to one coffee a day only and then water or fruit tea with no caffine rest of day :D

Bought my stamps today to start sending invites out - £25 on stamps  Only 17 weeks left though!

    hope you all good

hello!! well my OH seems to think you can organise a wedding in 6 months, so whilst we're not yet engaged, we should be by xmas, and knowing him he'll want the wedding next May. So being female, I am being one step ahead of him, and trying to get the diet/fitness underway NOW! I only have a stone to lose really, hwoever I've been trying to get rid of it for over 3 years, to no avail. I am a failed yo yo dieter, have major problems with my stomach and can therefore only eat certain things (all of which seem to be bad for my weight!) and fruit and veg can only be eaten in moderation, so its too easy to reach for the crisps and biscuits cos I know I can eat them.

So I've decided, even if (when) I do lose a stone, I'll still be wobbling, so I'm going to tone up I think and really get into exercise. I love it when i get into it, but then get out of the habit and pile the weight back on.

So heres to losing 14lb :)

:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

Just wanted to say thanks Starla - I have just been on the website Foodfocus and what a fabulous and FREE site it is.
It has saved me £5.95 a week going to WeightWatchers and I love the calorie counting, fat, protein and carb graphs and the progress dashboard. According to that, I should be at goal by 31st January 2009 :T . Yay!

    Cheers x x
