Married in eight months and 3st 10 pounds to lose

I get married on 7th March 2009 and I am determined not to be a chubby bride. I want a slinky, size 10/12 wedding dress...not a size 18 fluffy, puff ball that makes me look like a humongous marshmallow.
So to help me along the way, I am keeping a diary on here.
I have decided to lose weight the old fashioned way...diet and exercise.
Anybody is welcome in joining me to shape up for their wedding on this thread.
My starting stats are: 13st 10 - dress size 18  ...not for much longer I hope.

Ah, good luck!
This book might help:-

I had hypnotherapy a couple of years ago for a few problems I was having at the time. Now I'm a total convert.
I bought this book about six weeks ago and have been listening to the CD almost every day. I'm a size 12 and don't need to lose weight but want to be as sleek as poss for the big day. This is definitely helping. I tried on some trousers that I'd outgrown the other day and they fitted! I haven't even really been doing anything different either. As they say, every little helps!

good luck! im also a size 18 but not getting married yet!
you could look on ebay for a used ps2 and dance mat i went from a size 18 to a size 14 in about 8 weeks by doing 1 hour every night on it
I let myself have 2 chocolate bars a week or i swapped to 1 hot chocolate a day. I also swapped mc donalds to boots butties (i was in college)
but now im back to this size as i dont get to do much exercise my job is stood on my feet all day not moving around much
but have just bought a wii fit so hopefully will drop a few pounds before i go on holiday in september.

Hi Bam,
I will join you!!! I dont get married until 27th June 09 but I currently weigh the same as you and am the same size. Are you doing any particular diet?

I've put a couple of posts on Skip's thread but no harm in making sure I have two threads to keep up with, I might be a bit more stringent then... I get married in November this year am currently size 12 but only just... I weight 10,10.
I would like to be under 10 when I get married even if it only by a pound! My main thing is my dress does up but it pinches so I need to lose a couple of inches just to fit more comfortably.
So I shall join you on this journey, as well as joining Skip, if you'll have me
Thats a great idea about the ps2... i think we still have our one in a cupboard unused and unloved, if i got a dance mat... hmm...
today I was running late and so only had a yog for brekkie when I got to work. now eating a salad and having another yog. tonight will be the 'tuesday night dinner' as its the one night the H2B cooks and its tortellini and grated cheese lol
xxMuddling through debt but can't see any light at the end of the tunnel??!!

hi Bam and all,
I am on a mission too, although I am a bridesmaid to me best mate. The wedding is in 5 weeks  and we are frantically dieting and exercising!
My start weight was 10st 4, and I down to 10st 1 and a bit now... although I have been terrible with the regular exercise and food..... now the shock has settled in and I need to up the anty. Proper diet and regular exercise.
I sit down a lot too with uni work and currently on jury service so trying to get off me back side and do things!!oh and making sure I walk the kids to school in the morning. Shame that they break up WEdnesday. I will have to find things to walk to now- I need purpose you see to motivate me.
I also use home workout dvd's which I have collected over the years! I alternate them so I don't get bored with the same routine and I am hoping that different ones do different things to me bod!
I am also using herbal life protein shakes at the mo- not doing the full thing that they say - that's way too much money. The forumla 1 is £25 and to be honest is good value for money, considering you have 2 a day and then a healthy meal in the evening (that's what I like , choice!!) It has 21 servings, so it lasts for over a week. You can also have veg/fruit snacks in between and pack the shake with fresh fruit and juices. It's not a bad way to do it- I am not that hungry on it and it's so tasty and convenient.
So you are not alone at all!
BTW my bridesmaid dress is rather too snug on me at the mo, so I have to make this work!!
Good luck all!0 -
Hi all x x
Nice to know I will not be the only one dieting and going without chocolate lol.
Speckled Egg - I do have that Paul Mckenna book & DVD somewhere but I only listened to it a few times. I may get it out again, I found it very relaxing.
StephB - I quite fancy one of those dance mats...we have a Wii but I find the tennis & athletics on it boring...I do like dancing though, so thanks for the suggestion.
EmBooze - Cool, glad you're joining me. I am not following a particular diet, I am just going to eat three low fat meals and two low fat snacks a day. I shall also exercise daily - but I am not going to join the gym as I find them expensive and I prefer to be out in the fresh air. So I am planning to cycle to work and maybe some disco dancing in my bedroom lol.
LuvlyCuppa - Keep up the good work. Post us some wedding pics when you get back so we can see all the beauuuuuutiful frocks.
Little-Belle - We would love to have you. Are you following a particular diet or plan?
I am starting my weight loss plan tomorrow as we are going out on a birthday meal tonight - so it's my last naughty food session for a while...shall have to make sure I enjoy it...and for those of you already on a diet...I shall have a piece of chocolate cheesecake for you lol.
have a great night ladies

I was once told that
"The easiest way to loose 20Lbs of ugly fat is to cut your head off"I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
yeah go and stuff your face tonight

the wii fit is great there is hula hooping, jogging and loads of other things

I'm getting married at the end of October and started 'sensible eating' yesterday - I'm 12st10lb as of yesterday.
My dress looked ok-ish in January when I got it but would probably look better for losing a bit of weight, just hope I haven't left it too late! Mind you, I think I work better with pressure and targets.
I'm just doing a low carb type thing - I've tried Slimming World in the past but I don't think I was motivated enough - the thought of those wedding photos hanging around for years to come is keeping me on track for now!
Good luck everyone!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
