hi all, i recently did an interview for royal mail. i just recieved an email like a few mins ago telling me that i passed my assessment however there isnt any vacancys atm.however they say they'll contact me where vacancies do come available or i can contact them if i see one. when the time comes will it mean i have to do the interview again
anyway im just so pleased that i passed it, there's nothing more that i want right now than to work as a postie and after the countless amount of rejections, its deffinately a good feeling even if i still havent quite got there yet
I received a similar email then got a call less than a week later offering me a job. I just had to go an meet my prospective manager but it wasn't another interview as such.0 -
ah right cheers guys. so i guess im in, but have to wait a bit longer

I was just wondering if anyone has done any work over the christmas period. I assume with the chirstmas cards etc they need extra people in the sorting office.
What are the hours and pay like? any experiences that are bad?
I just need some temp work until Jan so any help would be appreciated.0 -
ye theres still xmas vacancies but you need to keep checking at http://rmg.i-grasp.com/fe/tpl_royalmail01.asp to see if theres any around your locality. the pay info is also there and will differ depending where you live. my contract says i get £372 (exc tax i think?)every week for 40hours but i live in north london
im hoping someone could help me with this. i got the introductory pack on saturday. im about to send of the contract of employment, p45 & EU working time reg98 today (in the prepaid envelope). for the working time regulations form, am i suposed to sign page 5. the info i get on the introductary letter seems to contradictt with whats being said on the paper attached to the working time regulations:-
Introductary letter
then on the paper attached to the form;If you wish to opt out please sign the form and then return it. this will not affect your offer of employment.
it could be because the declaration isnt on page 4 as a misprint or something, not sure ;sIf you choose not to sign this agreement, you will be protected by the average 48hour limit.
edit: i might phone them up as this is getting way too confusing. if i dont get much luck over the phone, could it be something that i'd be able to get changed on the start daySavings Target: 100K by 2015

if you dont sign the form you are limiting yourself to 48 hours per week
if you sign it you are opting out of having your hours limited to 48 hours
you can change your preference on the 48 hour rule at a later date
however its a crazy set up.EU rulings brought in to cut peoples hours then the government provides an opt out0
