Update on the Eversheds letter, I have just received an email from them saying it was Link Financial and that it was an error on their part and should not have been put on to my credit file. I have never had any dealings with Link Financial anyway. They say they are deleting it from their database and having it removed from my credit file, time will tell. I will wait a couple of months then order my stat files again, hopefully they should be then OK.

I was discharged in 2007. Up until that point halifax were still sending me satatements for my account demanding money. I wrote to them and this stopped... up until recently when they send me a statement demanding £8k. Will this statement affect my credit file?

Hi all, I have recently followed the instructions to clean up my credit file after being made bankrupt 10-12-2009 I have received a letter back from one of the creditors.

help.jpg

I do not understand their interpretation of the letters I sent, I included the letter that is advised on the clean up page, my Bankruptcy order and Discharge notice.

The Current account was my bank account included in the bankruptcy, which I thought should have been closed and on my credit file is to date still defaulting.

The mortgage was also included as the house sold and there was a shortfall.

Any ideas where to go from here?

Hi, Can I ask a quick question please? I am trying to clean up my files post BR but has been a few years since BR and I don't have the account numbers anymore for the accounts included within the BR. Can I still write to the companies which are still showing as Defaulted without the account number and they can find the account number from Name/Address details?

Thank you in advance

Have you actually "cleaned" up your credit file?

Hi Dojo

I am trying to right now.

When I first checked on the 6yr annaversary of the Bankruptcy I had the following mistakes on file
1- Mortgage, still showing lates/defaults after the bankruptcy date
2- secured loan, the same, but Worse, showing as still owing!!!!
3- debt agency re old credit card, lates/defaults aftvr the date
4- debt agency re 3mobile, same
5- old bank account, showing inactive not closed, (not a major issue)

One month on...

1- the mortgage company were fine with me on the phone and claimed they will sort it though it may take a month or so... as of today, it's NOT done, however, even as-is it will come off in 3 months
:mad::mad:2-THIS is the big one Welcome Finance wfs.com, bunch of #@$£s they agree I went bankrupt, agree the date of it and that this loan was part of it BUT still wont remove it, they even had the gaul to suggest I PAY it to remove it????? comedy genius! the amount, by the way is near £10k more than at the time of bankruptcy. They don't respond to letters or emails and if you phone them 5 times, you get 5 different versions of what they do/dont have on file for me. THIS is the one I'm wondering if I can sue for libel?
3-they have switched "default" to settled, but in the wrong month ! DOH ! but they say it'll be totally removed by mid July... so HFO Services... I give you 5/10.
4-gone! removed! sorted within 2 weeks and off 1 contact! Lowells I give you 10/10 ! fair play !
5- hahaha Co-op Bank said they'd sort it... 3 days later... a new bank card arrives! damn they're good!

back to the point of libel?

my understanding is that if a person or organisation prints incorrect statements about you (the entry is very incorrect!) that are presented as fact not opinion (credit reports are just that) which defame you (they wrongly lower my credit score and prevent me gaining credit if i needed it) that they are guilty of libel

no? yes? any idea? I know in the USA this is the case, they have a law stating that creditors MUST be responsible (and can be held so) for the info they record on your files (quite right too! obvious really) but in the UK? I dunno.
