Booking flights from the Uk via US/Aussie Expedia Sites

  • There is another thread MSE re this-
    As I have already posted, I have booked 22 Oct - 31 Oct 3 * hotel Kissimmee & flights 2 adults & 2 children, £1000

On Expedia.co.uk the same trip was £1500!

I have read through all the booking rules & there is nothing about having to be an Australian citizen.

When you pay at the end, you then key in your address, and the system lets you pick any country as your home address.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

O M G. this is great. Looked up some similar flights to above for end of October. .co.uk had different airlines but the cost was....£4866 for 3 people compared to appx. £1690 to do the same!!!! expedia .au was all on American as well. How ridiculous the difference. Makes me want to book NOW.

edit, just looked on American and it is close to the same as expedia.au so why is Expedia.co.uk so MUCH?

Wondered if it was just USA flights - what about flights to Austrailia or NZ - ie actually using the websites for what you think they should be used for!

  • There are no bargains from Manchester to Florida.

Someone on hotukdeals has just called them and they have said this

This works. This is a great find......

Basically - I called Expedia Australia and they KNOW of the error. Its a technical error. They cant remove the KLM, Northwest & Air France flights as the system is linked directly to a worldwide reservation system. Removing them from their searches would also remove a lot other airlines too and in turn lose more business.

So they wont take any bookings over the phone with these airlines but if it allows you to book it online, then it will be honoured - its simple (or so they say!).

Once receiving the confirmation, they issue ticket numbers with 72 hours (as this the deadline from AF, NW & KLM on their sale fares for agents to submit ticket numbers). As people will be booking hotels, car hire and other things too, they will recover a lot of the losses in the secondary spend people will make. They make more money on ground arrangements by the way so its not a bad thing really for them!!

This isn't going to last long so dont hang about.........icon_razz.gif

Who knows what that means given the person who started a thread 2 months ago said they spoke to them and they said it was fine and no mistake.
    :naughty:

I think theres an error to do with the airlines flying to the USA, as I have tried for flights to Australia (various dates and destinations) and they're coming up at £832 with 2 stops, £990 with 1 stop. Which I doubt is a bargain!!

Edit: on UK Expedia the same flight is £896 with 2 stops, so a small saving. But nothing MSE!

Be careful with connection times, some are very short!

  • Richardw what connection time would you say was the minimum needed generally?
