EDIT: 25 inch waist is a size 6!! i'd be happy with a 10 or even 12!!
I'm a dress size 14 thoughvery confused!! Maybe cause my hips are larger that pushes everthing up.
I weighed myself last night and then worked out my BMI, its 26 so my new plan is to loose 4lbs and thats me.
Since doing this I think I've lost about 2lbs, my jeans feel looser
Just had brekkie at work, was bad today and had a bacon roll with tomato sauce and a hash brown. Bad for the waist, but again it was from the work canteen so it was good on the purse... a steal at 81p and I avoided starbucks on my way to work today and got a coffee from the machine - FREE
How is everyone doing today?

Lynne that's wonderful!
I had a bit of a arguement with my bf last night, he is very good with his money and is never overdrawn whereas I have been for six years, we were hoping to go on holiday to Moscow in November but he says that he won't go if I just pay for it with my overdraft. I said that as it will take 5 years to pay it off I can't wait that long without holidays, what do you all think? My idea was to start a seperate holiday fund and really scrimp and save to get the money for it, Jo has really inspired me with her £9 to last 12days and I want to try too. Or should I just be focussed on paying off the overdraft? I'm even considering a second job now, I'm sick of being in my overdraft! Heeeeellllllllppppppp!!!!0 -
Hi crazy - what a dilemma!
Apart from emergency funds and unless you have a 0% overdraft, as I understand it never makes sense to save up instead of paying off debt, Martin has written an article about it (Is your overdraft the £9000?)
Personally, we took the view that we are going to do without until all our debt is paid off, but we are on really good wages, and paying nearly £1000 a month off our £12k, so we should be done in a year; and we had already paid for a big holiday this year!
Can you explain to him that you are going to scrimp and save to pay off your overdraft as quickly as possible, but if that means paying for Moscow out of it that this is a better financial decision than saving separatley as it defeats the object??
Would he be willing to pay for you on the proviso that you pay him back over time as well as paying off your overdraft, or would you rather not have that commitment?
Re second job, if you can manage it and it makes you feel better, then why not give it a go? You can always quit! Perhaps get a job just to pay for the holiday?? I used to work 10 - 3, and when we decided to team up to pay the debts I went 8 - 4, so it felt like I had a second job, and I am so shattered all the time (as I have other commitments that used to fit in around 10 - 3 and now I have to cram in around 8 - 4!!)
Whatever you decide, it is entirely your decision hun. I'm sure if you research it and work out what you're going to do; your bf will respect your new 'financial wisdom' lol and support youxxx

Thanks BF, you make alot of sense, I'll try to find that article. My overdraft is £3000 and I have a loan of £6000, I would'nt like to borrow money from my boyfriend, I'm not sure what job I could get that would fit around my current job which is either 8-4 or 11-7. It would probably just be bar work and that would only be minimum wage.
Maybe I just have to realise that I can't have everything and miss out on Moscow for a while.0 -
WOOOO HOOOO Well done Lynn Are you closing your shop all together or working from it ?

It's awkward when you have weird working hours. Have you looked at the 'Up Your Income' board? There are websites that pay you to sit and click!!
Also, remember that minimum wage adds up, and if it provides a pressure valve then it might be worth it?
Ultimatley the choice is yours! I knew when thinking about our holiday that I really wanted it, because I was willing to drag myself out of bed at 6 every morning, not get in until 5 every evening and sacrifice my social life to fulfill my committments in the evening...!!
Maybe you could arrange to go to Moscow next year, longer time, but longer to 'save up /pay down;)' for it, and it will come round eventuallyx

Jo x
Hi Jo,
I am going to keep the shop on until some of the debts are down, but I cannot work from it. I will close on a Wednesday as that is a half day anyway, and will work in here myself on a Saturday. I will try and sell it as a business eventually.
I can make good money from what I am going to do, but I will need to see what the package is, ie, salary, is there a car, what are the prospects etc. I would still rather work for myself, but I am not making any money so there's no point really.

Sorry about the BF, this thread is so long now. Cant find where all the posts are now. I have vowed not to buy another tub or bottle of anything until i have none left. I am only minutes away from a large selection of shops. So waiting until i have none left wont be a problem. I have just been and counted I have 12 jars of moisturizer and 14 bottles of body lotion and more of other stuff  . But the saving will be fab. I have turn from a spedaholic to a scroogeaholic in 7 days :rotfl:

another maintain, at most i may have lost 1lb (its scales with a needle) but im so fed up, i did 5 days of walking 2 miles, dance mat 3/4 times this week (250 calories a go so not a huge amount but still), ate pretty well with only 2 or 3 slip ups AND the bloody detox! I really am wondering if its worth it at all! that's 3 weeks of being stuck at this weight. Have decided i will up my exercise - done 30 mins this morning between tunny crunches, trampette and hoovering really energetically (that counts doesn't it lol?) and going to do 30 mins dance mat later. but boooooooooooo
CC - tbh i would perhaps save for the holiday but still pay some off the overdraft too, rather than it looking like ur just dipping into ur overdraft again (i know it works out the same money wise but it might look different to him depending on his mentality?). I like to save for things, even though im still in my overdraft, daft i know but ah well lol.
Well done Lynne!!! good luck with the new job (even if it is a while away).0
