    Hi,

Glad to see you're back posting; sorry you're not feeling much better though.

I thought the suggestion of selling the car for something cheaper was a good one. I had a very reliable 1997 Polo which I got for £1500 (until I had to sell that as well!). Economical on the petrol and never once let me down.

Chin up, you're doing amazingly well just by the fact you're facing up to things and tackling them.

Yeah, I'm registered on search consultancy and first people solutions - not heard from either of them though.

    Hi Brody

You need to chase agencies these days so get in the habit of phoning them for a weekly update, asking advice on your CV and so on. Also sign up to a few more, I am finding that Adecco (Blythswood Square office) are pretty on the ball as long as you stay on top of them.

Any word on the car ? I can give you a list of places to advertise it for free if you think this is an option. Plenty of half decent runarounds available for low prices cash at the moment as all the car dealers / small traders are finding it hard so if you could sell yours and have a few quid cash for a new one you should find a reliable one without too much trouble.

Keep on keeping on mate, and take it easy - dont get in a panic (i know easier said than done)

Selling it privately isn't an option - finance is 6k and I'd only get 4k selling it - was trying to change it through the dealership but got refused finance (I have a thread about that in the motoring section).

We need the 2 cars as OH goes back to work next week, so I need to pick up toots after I finish as she's on rotating shifts.

Brody, read you pm will reply shortly.

I've dealt with Search for many years and blackclouds is right you do have to chase them periodically. Student Loans company are always looking for staff, they pay well but they do take their pound of flesh but you are given a lot of training. Also try NCR at eurocentral, I believe they were advertising recently.

Any ideas on best places to search those vacancies?
On their own websites or s1 etc?

Appreciate all the help you folks are offering, this is a great community.
  • Student Loans usually go through S1 jobs, but I have known them to advertise in everything from the evening times to the record. Try googling them and see if anything comes up. NCR, call them up they'll probably ask for your cv.

Had a read through the car finance thread you have going there as well now so I have a better understanding of what is going on with the car.

Chances are the finance problem is the £2k shortfall on the Clio and not to do with your credit rating at all. I have been in this position with good credit score in the past. You should have no probs getting a seat for the Clio, OK might struggle getting a pram in the boot, but most rear facing baby seats will fit no problems. If the wee one needs to go in a rear facing seat in the front get the mechanic to disable the front passenger airbag. My old dear has got a Chevrolet Kalos and gets a rear facing baby seat and 3 standard toddler seats in it when she needs to along with 2 7 year olds, a 5 year old and an 18 month old.

Re the job search go direct onto websites of companies in the sector you are looking at and look at their vacancies or send a CV over followed a day or two later by a phone call.

Have a good day today mate, you will get there, the fact you are taking control of things proves that .......

    Thanks mate,
Trying no to stress too much today despite my job being crap and worrying about my folks - I still need to get the rest of my stuff from there, but being stuck with the Clio means it'll take a few trips.

Another crap work day almost done, next stop my folks to get my stuff shifted.
    Hoping nobody's home.

Had no luck looking on s1 etc either today - turns out I missed a massive job fair thing the other day in Glasgow.

Hopefully doing a car boot sale on Sunday as well.
  • Hang in there Brody, should have that reply for you by Monday. Had a bit of an emergency yesterday.
