Hi Brody, Have just read your thread and thought i'd send a hug as you seem to be having a rough ride. Best idea is to get your CV on as many job websites as you can (if you want any CV advice PM me and i'll help where possible!) I did this in February and managed to get a better job within a month with endless opportunities. Also hang in there as you're doing all you can to pay where you can. Keep Posting and we'll all support you where possible. We've all been through bad moments i am lucky enough to be having a positive day today. The rollercoaster is all part of the DFW experience! Unix, Blackclouds - thanks, it means a lot that people on here care.
Thing is, I don't think I can get much lower.
Was trying to change my car as it's too small for her car seat and just found out i've been refused for the finance - even though in over 5 years of being a customer I haven't missed a single car payment.
I'm not jealous of my nephew, just disgusted my folks are being so shallow - they don't even ring to see how my girl is doing or anything.
I don't think the delivery driver thing is viable for me - where I stay I don't know the area at all, and I'm not sleeping, so always exhausted.
I need to try and find a higher paying job, and fast.
OK bud, looking at the SOA the car is worth about 5k, is that about right ? Also how much do you still owe on it ? When you say car seat is too big for the car is there any mileage in a different car seat, Halfords will do a seat check / fit and can give you lists of what seat fits what car and so on.
I had to down grade car at the start of this year from an 06 plate to a 51 plate and I got car + cash for my old car. Can you sell off car private and buy another with the money from it ?
Sorry so many questions buddy but there will be a way through this, we just got to keep looking for it.
Regarding the job, take it you have your CV on S1jobs, monster and the like. Have you got CV registered with the agencies ? Its going to take some work and effort, but if it gets you out this hole it will be worth it. Have a look at my thread if you like mate here and you will see you are not alone even if it seems that way.Real Men Do Cry - Even This Scotsman

I second what blackclouds says about the agencies. I'd be happy to look over your CV and help where I can. As I mentioned before we work in the same industry. Pm me if you want.
Chin up Brody, as for the sleeping problems please make sure you eat properly and at regular times. This made a big difference to me in the early days.
As for being turned down for finance believe me down the line you'll look upon it as a good thing, it might not seem it now but believe me it is.
As for the nephew/parents situation ignore, be the bigger person here. Its them thats missing out on seeing the little one. Its true what they say, you can pick your friends but not your family.
You have a lot of people looking out for you on here, we'll help where we can and we're always here even if you just want a rant or need advice. Get some shut-eye, and then spend a little time with the girlfriend and your little one.

Cheers Unix, sent you a PM.
I'm registered on s1, monster, total & with search & FPS agencies (well, registered online).
I've been considering a day in town going round them all & doing their tests etc.
Only problems are getting time off my work and I have to give 1 month notice.0 -
Brody is there any way you can speak to your boss and say you will have to leave as you are not earning enough to pay the bills therefore would they allow you interview time off? Maybe this will encourage them to review your pay?Debt to clear: feels endless...

Believe me the 1 month's notice isn't a big deal when a company wants you. I faced the same problem about getting time off for interviews. Don't tell them its for interviews, I told my previous employer it was dental/doctors appt or family thing (and see if they ask what the family thing is, just smile and say it personal and you'd rather not discuss it believe me they can't push it), the rest of my interviews were done evenings and saturdays mornings, the agencies are good at getting interviews done around your working day, they do understand that most employers will dig their heels in about this and will do their best to help.

On the plus side I finish at 4 every day, so that'll be a help.
Aside from the places I mentioned, where's a help for posting my cv etc?0 -
Hi Brody,
Have you though about going through an agency? I gave them my CV when I was looking for another job, and I got a few interviews and a job through one of them. Not always guaranteed but at least it is another pair of eyes on the market for you.0 -
Yeah, I'm registered on search consultancy and first people solutions - not heard from either of them though.0

Try Resource Group (think they are called Change now) they were pretty good. Also did you manage to check out the EVH website? You could get a start on what you earn now, but as it is public sector you would have a chance to move around more and get annual incriments (spelt wrong?). It will all work out you will see.0
