  • I am going to make mine in the next few weeks, I also want to make a smaller cake for my dad who be on his own for the first time in 47 years this Christmas :-( , does anyone have a recipe for one that fits into a tin as mentioned earlier in this thread.

  • Not too early :) Feed every week or 2 until you come to cover the cake.

    I now put all my fruit in a lidded box, and feed that for a few weeks before making the cake - much easier than faffing trying to feed the cake itself :D

  • Thanks everyone,i dont really like icing,if i top with fruit and nuts do i do before baking also how do a stop them browning/drying pictures i have looked at makes the top look glossy like there is some sort of glaze on it ?
