I have made my cake, wrapped it in the 2 sheets of greaseproof and foil but I dont have an air tight container big enough! The cake is stored in a draw in a cold room of the house, dose it really need to be in an air tight container? My cake is 8" and with the wrapping I need a flipping big tub and could do without just for my Christmas cake!
Do you think it needs a tub??????0 -
Personally i would try and put it in a Tub as well. It could be fine but air getting to it will effect it no matter what. I picked up a huge Tupperware really cheaply from a local discount store.
If you're not going to put it in a tub cling film around the greasepoof that will limit the air contact.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

Hi Thunderchild,
I've never kept my christmas cake in t tub/tin until its been iced/cut.
I just store it on my dressing table top in the bedroom in 2 or 3 layers of greaseproof and a layer or two of foil. I open it periodically to pour in a bit more booze and then wrap up. Its always been delicious even if I do say so myself lol.
Good luck with yours.
