Not at all. It is called memory foam because it leaves an imprint for a few seconds after releasing the pressure (as shown in the picture). Although photos like the one above are usually taken at very low temperatures so that the foam recovers very slowly. The reason memory foam reacts like this is because it is open celled, which means that instead of being made up of loads of bubbles like reflex foam, it is actually loads of very small holes. When pressure is applied the air slowly seeps out of the holes allowing the foam to mould to your body, and provide support without causing pressure points. When the pressure is released the air seeps back into the memory foam slowly, leaving an imprint for a few seconds.
You wouldn't want a mattress to leave an imprint permanently. If this happens it is most likely because the bubbles in the reflex foam layer underneath have started to burst, which then causes the dip in the mattress.0
