I checked my online statement today and it states that i transferred the money before i was paid which shows up as a negative balance on my statement and next in line is my salary which puts my balance positive. I have still not received the £100 bonus and am expecting it anytime soon, could they use the above as a justification not to pay it to me.0

A&L always list debits before credits in your online statement. As long as your available balance covers the sum transferred at the time you make the transfer it isn't a problem.
But couldnt that technically take you over your overdraft limit which would incur a fee? That's what I was always worried about when transferring money out on payday.Current Debt Owed To Family: [STRIKE]£12,575[/STRIKE] £9,000 :wall:Estimated Debt Free... [STRIKE]Dec 2012[/STRIKE] Aug 2012

No, they won't. Same happened to me. My first salary came in, transferred money to a different account the same day and it showed as negative balance first next day. (Which it shouldn't). I opened my account in August as well, was expecting to get my incentive mid December, but had a surprise today when logged in and it was there!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

I opened my account the last week in July. They have told me 3 times that I will receive the money in the next 7 days and today they have sent me the following message:-
Thank you for your e-mail regarding our '£100 Switching Incentive'.
Due to the popularity of the above incentive we are currently experiencing a delay in making the credits.
Therefore your account should be credited within the next 10 days. Thank you for your patience and please accept my apologies for this delay.
I do hope you find the above information useful, however, if you have any further questions or need any more help please visit our ‘Help’ section online or contact us again.0 -

With A&L, you need to learn to ignore everything other than your available balance. Nothing else is a reliable indicator of what is happening to your account. Your running balance can go thousands of pounds into debt without any problem. Under normal circumstances, the only time you will have a problem is when a payment is made at a time when your available balance is too low to cover it.0 -
I am waiting for a standing order to come out of my A&L account for the first time. It should be paid on 1st Dec and was showing 'next payment date' of 1st Dec. Today, however, it is showing a next payment date of 1st Jan, yet no money has come out of my account.
Does anyone know if the money is still going to come out on mon or has it skipped a month for some reason?0 -

That looks like normal behaviour to me. The payment date rolls over to the next month on the working day prior to payment.
Thanks very much for the reassurance.
I've got to say that the way that Alliance and Leicester displays transactions on statements, debits before crediting and what I've just noticed, this payment date changing before the payment's been made, is all very unclear and confusing. It really puts me off A&L! They just seem to make things look a lot more complicated than they are or need to be.0 -

That's down to the fact their web based system doesn't access real-time account information (except for available balance information). It only updates overnight on weekdays, and that leads to a lot of oddities.
That's interesting Masonic. I suppose I expect real-time account information from Internet banking, that's why I use it, and of course, I am comparing A&L with other banks I have accounts with. But I will keep your info in mind when checking my account in future.0
