i have heard from people that know him and people that live on same street as him that he definately has not passed his test so i do not understand how the police say all their checks are ok. Even tho they have logged it with intelligence.

I appreciate the fact i pulled out into the path of another car, but i say he wasnt there when i pulled out. I have to just face facts and put it down to life, and take the hit.

i was stopped at a T junction to turn right, the vehicle came from my left. I dont know whether he was turning right into the road i was coming out from or whether he was going to continue forward as he didnt get there anyway.

maybe he has given false details to the police, maybe he gave the details of the owner of the car and that is why it checked out ok.
a guy bumped me in a car park recently, damaged my bumper,he supplied me with false detail but i got his reg plate, went to the police and basically told me i would have to get my insurance involved to resolve this problem, there was nothing they could do,they checked the cars details and they didnt match what i had, but they were not in the least bit interested in this guy who potentially had an unisured / un taxed / or un mot'd car who is giving out false details to people he is crashing into.
in short what im saying is dont expect the police to be too hung up on the unliscensed driver,if they are anything like strathclyde police they wont give a damn.

can i just ask y am i being talked to like the bad person - i am legal...lol
Because you're trying to get out of paying for damage you caused by your POOR driving.
i have been taught how to drive, i have passed a test to make me legal, i know how to pull out of a road but people seem to take the illegal persons side...lol
That welsh bint Maureen off "Britains Worst Drivers" passed a test eventually but she can't drive for toffee. The fact you piled into someone proves you don't know how to pull out of a road.
this is quite funny..... i'd like to know how u would react if an inexperienced non licenced driver was involved in an accident wiv u would you react the same as your telling me........???
I wouldn't have been at fault though...

Let me see...Could it be because the Police actually used REAL FACTS to ascertain whether he has whereas those claiming he hasn't passed his test are merely spreading rumours?

No, because you didn't see a 6ftx15ft solid object driving down the road and pulled out in front of it.

YOU ARE AT FAULT. YOU PULLED OUT FROM A GIVE WAY INTO THE PATH OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. END OF.

Micky, I think some of the folk replying to this thread are playing devils advocate.

If the guy you hit was LEGAL, I stand with everyone here, that being it was your fault, shut up and stop whining.

If the guy you hit was NOT LEGAL, it is no wonder you are pee'd off.

Did the guy that hit you show any ID? He may have given you his friends/brothers/car owners name.

Did you call the police from the scene of the accident, and request attendance?

As you will know, if he was driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence, he will be uninsured in his own right.

I would persue this with the police.

I was involved in a similar situation several years ago.

To cut a long story short, I was cut up by a kid in a porsche. I somehow ended up in front a little bit down the road, and 'thought I saw a kitty run out in front of me', which caused me to break suddenly and very heavily, because I like cats :) and could not bear to hit one.

The result was a porsche 911gt3 underneath the rear of my old vectra.

The kid was unlicenced and uninsured. No charges were ever brought though, and the vehicles owners insurance paid for my damage(vehicle, compo for me, and compo for the ex-mrs punkstoner No.1)

I noticed the name of the investigating officer on the bbc news website some 18 months later. Fired for refusing to pay his hoores, and having fun with them back at the nick.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/3557653.stm

Always made me wonder if he took money from a certain 911gt3 driver?

"Oldham magistrates heard the father-of-two left without paying the woman the £20 they had agreed. " Dirty rotten scoundrel... Manchesters Finest!

I believe you can request details from the DVLA by post. If you give his reg number, they will tell you who owns the car and where they live.

i remember when this happened to me a few years ago. i was hit by an uninsured driver. reported it to my insurance company and they advised i would have to pay for my damages and his because they held me at fault. (dont know how as i had beeped my horn to signify my presence to him on the narrow road). i advised them why should i have to pay for his repairs when he wasnt insured and didnt have a license either. argued with them for about 7 months and eventually they agreed i could keep my ncb so long as i kept my insurance with them for the next year.

if he is a legal driver, then i agree with prior posts. you should be held liable for his damages.

if you could get evidence which suggests he doesnt have a license, then fight your case. could you try dvla???

But if you were to hit someone who knocked on your door because somebody told you he was going to rob you
would you be in the right then ? NO
regardless of this drivers legal status you made the mistake and therfore you need to pay.
what you need to do know is prove that this lad is driving illegaly and then they will prosecute him.

if it had been an insured fully legal driver at the wheel there would be no question but your basicaly trying to use him to get out of something you have done

Why? I really don't see what whether the guy was legal or not has to do with who was to blame for the accident...if you drive into someone, it's generally your fault.
