Help on illegal drivers please!!

  • The accident was your fault. Regardless of any paperwork, you are personally liable for any damage to the other party's property.

If you do not think the police are doing their job correctly then you should take the matter up with a superior officer.

Next time, pay more attention when pulling out.

You say you have reported the alleged offence to the police - they will take whatever action is necessary regarding that.

As far as the incident is concerned, luckily for the innocent third party you crashed into, your paperwork is in order, and he isn't put to the hassle of having to sue you personally for the cost of repairs as your insurers appear to be in the real world and have readily accepted liability.

Are you the slightest bit concerned you may have caused personal injury as well as the property damage you did?

Hum let me think. 3 girls getting out of the car and running away when they could have all stayed in the car and claimed for whiplash injuries along with the driver.

What will it take to get this boy off the road before he kills someone?
You had the accident though, not them.

    So it's two issues:
    1) You caused a crash, you pay for the damage regardless of who was driving the other vehicle and their insurance status
    2) You have reason to beleive that someone has been driving a vehicle whilst not insured
    Happy chappy

can i just ask y am i being talked to like the bad person - i am legal...lol

lucky for the innocent 3rd party ..... i cant believe peoples reactions to this.....

i have been taught how to drive, i have passed a test to make me legal, i know how to pull out of a road but people seem to take the illegal persons side...lol

this is quite funny..... i'd like to know how u would react if an inexperienced non licenced driver was involved in an accident wiv u would you react the same as your telling me........???

Not according to the evidence you originally posted.

You told us you looked both ways then found the biting point and drove off into collision with someone on the main road!

You should have been at biting point then looked again - then maybe it wouldn't have happened!

Unfortunately it did, your fault, just learn from it.

Agree with Tom above, somewhat...The boy might not have had a full licence, but he wasn't the one driving into people...So maybe you should just put this down as "one of those things"...i expect if you forget about the "driving without insurance" thing, they'll forget about the "driving without due care and attention" thing...

It is easy, however, to just not see cars sometimes...I've done it, my gf has done it, my dad's done it, etc etc

Accidents happen and when they do - that's what your insurance is for.

Again, it depends on the nature of the incident...

If I was hit by one of these drivers, I'd be mad as hell, yes. If, however, I'd driven into them myself, I'd find it very hard to blame them for it...

i have just spoken to my insurance and said i accept liability as i was the one pulling out of the road - they still want drawings etc but they have advised that the boy hasnt even reported the incident to his own insurance which i think is quite bizarre. Its been nearly a week possibly shows he had no insurance at all ????

Feel better about it now - thank you for the advice i have received putting it into perspective its just a piece of metal at least no-one was injured.

Just because he did not hold a correct licence to drive the vehicle does not give you or anyone else carte blanche to crash into him and escape any liability for doing so.

If he was driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence then that is solely a matter for the police.
