You say "more" features? Don't you quite understand that people aren't buying the phone because it has a million features.. they're buying it because it is an ipod and a phone. That's all they want! With Wi-Fi I guess.

Either way in 12 months an upgrade on a contract would not cost that much.. just like taking out a new contract!

The OP didn't ask about how to save money on buying a phone.

The OP asked if it's all it's cracked up to be.. and for the features it has... Yes it is!

Suuuuurrrre --if you're content with the 2.0 MP camera with other mobile phone theses days having 3+ Megapixels , ha ha the LG KF750 Secret has 5.0 mega pixels for example and as the earlier poster said Not if you like MMS , and still no video messages??? but hey it's 3G so i s'pose that means NOT getting a decent camera with it and no MMS then suuure 3G is for you.

...But surely any post is an added bonus if its trying to save you money --after all that is WHAT the WEBSITES ABOUT?? :T

First the bad points, no MMS and a rubbish camera.

Compare that small list to the great user interface, push email, GPS, wifi, web browsing (in the best browser on a mobile phone), decent call quality, visual voicemail and the App store and yes, it is all it's cracked up to be.

(looks great too - very shiny)

Ok so why use MMS when you have email functionality and FREE 3G data usage with the o2 contract? so you can send your mum a picture of your hotel room on holiday or something? MMS is really not that popular!

As for the camera... most people have cameras when they go on holiday or somewhere... and who cares about megapixels when you're having a drunk house party?

My point is, you buy the iphone with it's features because you want an ipod, a phone, something that looks nice, something that plays music/video and syncs with your itunes device.. not because you want a good camera and MMS?!?

If you want them then stay clear of the iphone I agree!

For it's features, it is a very good product.

And indeed it's about saving money, but if the OP wants an iphone who are we to say "its not got this feature that I personally like so stay clear".

I'd go with a firm "no" on this.

It's sold the same way as the rest of apples products - looks pretty...but that's it...

Personally, I have a k850 at the mo, just because I like the 5mp camera and the MP4 video recording...But if I were to upgrade, I'd be looking HTC or even blackberry before I considered the iPhone...there is, sadly, more to life than being really really good-looking.
  • the OP said "is it really all its cracked up to be?"

so based on the 'NEW' features, one could say no, as yes it has a great interface , but so did the first model , so what EXTRA are you getting for your hard earned money??

In countries with dollar currencies there's a say "someone has more dollars than cents" ---I think it's lost in this country.

...If you're going to buy an iphone, cause you're part of that 'religion' no one is going to stop you from buying one.

...but if you want to be 'slightly' rational about it, there are other handsets out there that do have roughly the same features but at a lot better price. So to help out the OP, one could be very justified in saying 'No it's not cracked up to what it SHOULD be'
...personallly I think Apple, is milking it (with O2) they at least could of offered a better camera (what with all the money they've made off their (loyal) customers) :rotfl:

---whatever you do don't spill beer on it --it's VERY expensive.

But it'll still look 'wicked like you know' if it doesnt work . people will still be impressed when you are pretending to 'surf the net' on the train, with a beer-soaked mobile phone

It's obvious you don't want one... fine... and why? Because it doesn't support the features you want, and it costs more than a phone which does support the features you want.. but there's 2 big points in the above.. the "you want" bit.

Not everyone wants what you want :) Some of us like the classy look of the iphone. Some of us love the impressive audio/visual quality and interface of the device. Some of us love the integration with itunes and the 8gb/16gb of in built memory. Some of us love the device for what it is.. and because of that some of us will buy it.

This doesn't mean it is "wrong" to buy it.
