Maybe you were more prone to illness as you had less immunity as you use anti-bacterial gel all the time?

No way....they can live on the surface of the paper, you can pick up bugs off stair rails, door knobs, grabbing the rail as you step on a bus....touching your sweaty forehead then brushing your mouth or nose...anything.
That's why the England cricket team always get the trots in India despite having their own chef and only drinking bottled water, bottled beer or boiled tea.
Anytime you think about it...wash your hands.

Even IF it was that, I used the antibac gel all the time & before I put anything in my mouth.

So it wasn't from my hands.

It was from food/drink I put in there.

We did have a drink (hibbicus) in a perfume shop. Hubby says the bottle of water they gave him was unsealed, so he didnt drink it, but I had already drunk the little squash drink. That was about 4pm

So you didnt eat much outside of hotel and used anti-bac gel and you still got dicky tum, could of been the water the veg etc was washed in,i doubt you will ever know.
Believe me the bugs on dirty money can be worse than some dodgy food you would have eaten.
I couldnt be bothered with all this over sensitivity about what you eat while out etc ,let alone using gel repeatedly all day because as you have found out its done you no good whatsoever.

I only ate ONCE outside the hotel

After the tummy bug, I wouldn't chance it again.

My nephew and his GF had to come home early from Sharm after the GF went down with a serious stomach bug and collapsed twice. They were in a 4* hotel and had only eaten there.

Our hotel used bottled water for washing salads, cooking veg & making ice.

But I have no way of knowing that about the restaurant on the Nile.

What I had was so bad, it was from food or drink, in quantity!!!!
I had awful cramping for two days as well.

Thats why I wouldn't go to a 4* somewhere like that, read too many reports of that.

But the place I went to is a 5* platinum & susposed to be really good.

You have no certain way of knowing that all salad, veg etc every day in the hotel was washed with bottled water either unless you were in the kitchens watching them and just because its a 5 star platinum hotel doesnt mean a thing.

But 5* doesn't guarantee you that the staff are washing their hands and even if they are I bet it's not in bottled water:eek:

Well the rep assured us they were.

It was a top notch place & it was a platinum brochure, not a micky mouse 5* like you get on teletext.

IF I got it from the hotel I got it from breakfast, so the fruit & veg bit doesn't matter anyway, as I didn't eat fruit or veg.

IF I got it from the hotel breakfast then I guess it was the eggs or yogurt.

No, but you don't need to wash your hands in bottled water.
