I'm not actually bankrupt and have never been, although very close!!! I do have a shocking credit (all because of being out of work for 1 year) history now though (well all defaults were registered about 2 years ago). Before that, I had perfect credit.0 -

Are your defaults marked on your credit files as settled?0 -
Hi,
Just to let you know that despite being on a Debt Management Plan with Payplan and having a quite few defaults on my credit record, I went into Lloyds TSB today to open a Basic Cash Account.
When the chap had put in my details etc into the computer, it then offered me a full classic bank account (as opposed to a basic account) which includes a cheque book and full visa debit card. I was gobsmacked to be honest. The only thing it doesn't offer is a cheque guarantee card or overdraft but I can certainly live without that as it is really the last thing I want or neecd.
Anyway my new account is open, just awaiting the new visa debit card and cheque book to drop through the letterbox (although i very nuch doubt that the cheque book will get used but it is handy for paying bills).
So, if you have a reasonably appalling credit file like mine is, it could be worth trying Lloyds TSB.
