I remember www.ispreview.co.uk was very useful when checking out a new isp, and it seems the more an isp advertises, the more hopeless they are!
I seem to remember Tiscali being number 1 on the 'complaints and poor service' page, almost every month since the site started.
I've heard AOL is going downhill too, since they sold to the carphone warehouse.
am I terribly cynical to think they're giving away laptops to lock people into a 3 year contract, then they can offer godawful service with no comeback?0 -
Good morning: I requested my MAC this morning after a 'conversation' with one of Tiscali's overseas call center reps (their dime not mine fortunately:D ) ...he stated that provision of my MAX service would take another 7-10 working days (I first reported the issue on 29 June ). Once my MAC arrives I'll be signing up with IDNET.

Be interesting to know Canucklehead, whether you are happy with your switch to IDNET!
Hi...I'll post a review at the end of my month's free trial...signed up a few hours ago and have a 'go live' date of 30 June...have already set up new email accounts with IDNET so my OH and I can pass on the new addresses to everyone in our address book....excellent service so far compared to the travesty that is Tisc:mad: li.

Not a very clever move! ISP e-mail accounts are best left for site registration/junk mail use etc. Using ISP independent e-mail providers makes changing ISP's so much easier. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Good evening: Hasn't been a problem for me in the 17 years I've had internet access with email both here and across the pond and it isn't a problem for me now though apparently some have issue with it.:D I have never used an 'ISP independent email provider' or felt the need to enlist one's services....doesn't present the optimum business image IMO.

And you think that Tiscali did :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Any self respecting successful business would have their own domain and make use of this for various dedicated e-mail addresses. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Good evening: Shouldn't make assumptions...not a 'clever move':D Never had business broadband with Tiscrapi and never said we did!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Have had our own domain for several years now but not something I'd share here with the anonymous (though apparently some individuals are into that type of activity).
My apologies to those MSErs who were hoping to read about the actual topic of this thread so I'll return to it now...avoid Tiscali and check out recommendations on Thinkbroadband and other reputable forums before signing up. I'll provide feedback on my new ISP, IDNET, when it is relevant to a thread.

Not an assumption clever !!!!!!, you were using it for your business as stated here.
I am extremely reluctant to invest any more time, energy or money into this issue as reliable broadband is an essential component of my working day and the problems I have encountered with Tiscali broadband are unacceptable in a competitive market. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Sorry but in my experience other ISPs are just as bad if not worse...
At least with Tiscali the problem with my line I've had through Orange, Talktalk and Madasafish has been fixed in less than a week - after 3 years of problems... All because they were too thick to listen to me when I said there was a line problem...
So don't for a sec think bad experiences will vanish by going to other ISPs...
As for what Martin puts in the article... Talktalk was in there for ages... and frankly they are WAY worse than Tiscali in customer service and IQ...
I had to threaten them with legal action before they faffed off!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0
