May be some changes in the wind from BT Retail - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/3909-ofcom-consults-on-changes-to-rules-for-telephone-market.html ".....scope for deals whereby you get free calls if you take the broadband and TV package along with line rental."
"BT Retail may.....set alarm bells ringing at providers who have......competed on just value for money"
Ofcom To Allow BT Bundles0 -
I have been offered a deal by something.org via Sky.
They are offering unlimited 8GB Broadband with Wireless modem, plus any time telephone calls to anywhere in the UK, plus free calls to 30 countries all for £19.99 per month.
Anyone used them? Comments please?0 -
And the additional cost of line rental is .......?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just had a letter from TalkTalk for free weekend/evening for a year (12 month contract, no monthly fees) AND... FREE LOCAL CALLS DURING THE DAY from 1 May.
I might just take them up - Primus has got a fault whereby all numbers show as engaged; have had this all weekend and still the case today; have to use 1280 to dial via BT or 1457 to dial via them but unable to use 1899 (assuming BT access code works because my line rental is with them). The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

If 1899 doesn't work (assuming you have an account with them) that suggests a BT fault, not a Primus one.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. That's what I'd have expected too - though Primus tell me it's at their end (?); I still use 1899 during the day with Primus as you only pay the connection charge. The thanks button is here to the right. Hi, got an orchid dialler and use bt for line rental, with 18185 and 1899 for appropriate calls, but I'm re-evaluating what we've got. I've looked and I can't find recent references to Plusnet for phone line rental. Does anyone know if they allow use of the override providers since being taken over by BT? Apologies if I'm asking in the wrong place.0
