  • 50GB Free Online Storage Space

Although not portable storage I spotted this on the BBC "click online Program"
it is a useful tool for downloading existing images from SD cards and performing a dual back-up of your images once on the computer hard drive and once virtually.

    A Drive

Now, how would you like 50GB of free online storage space with the option to share? Yes, I thought so.

Well at adrive.com just click the big black button to get your 50GB and sign-up and click the link in the activation e-mail which you are sent to complete.
Once logged in managing your files is really simple, though the downloader/uploader runs on java so you will need to have that function activated to work successfully.
Click on My Files at the top then use the Upload feature to begin backing-up data from your hard drive. The site is still in beta but the FAQ says they will be adding a feature to automatically back up all the files on your computer soon. Once your files have uploaded you will see a link giving you the option to share them. Click this link to add the file to your shared drive, and a URL will be generated for others to click on to access that file.

I've found valueshop.co.uk to be good value for memory - e.g. Kingston 1 Gb SD for £3.16 inc. VAT. Postage is only 69p for memory irrespective of quantity. They are UK based so have to charge VAT, unlike those based in the Channel Islands.

    4Gb microSDHD card for £10.85

1 Gb microSD card for £2.62
2 Gb microSD card for £4.94

You do have to pay £3.99 for delivery on all orders so better if you can bulk buy with friends although if you join the mailing list they have special offers on delivery sometimes. They are very good for DVD+/-R and ink too so better to get everything in one hit.

Not cheaper than play but they are Kingston branded. I didn't notice the higher play one was 8Gb oops

7dayshop.com have 2Gb SD cards for £3.99, and brilliant deals on other memory cards. They do charge £3.99 for postage, but this is for any amount of items, so it is worth trying to put together as many items at once, ot get together with friends to place your order. I have used them many times, and they are very efficient and items are always excellent

Only get compact Flash from Picstop a great service and no VAT very fast delivery if in stock. The company also advertises in all the main digital camera magazines.

Don't, whatever you do buy Compact Flash on Ebay, I got stung by a counterfeit Flashcard, read the warnings.

Genuine Flash Cards have rounded label corners and sealed in a bubble pack the counterfeit have round at the bottom and square corners at the top on the label and the bubblepack is not sealed as it should be. I warned the supplier, he withdrew the cards he had on sale and refunded my money and I respect the guy for that and didn't report the issue to Ebay.

I use Sandisk Extreme III CF Cards, and decided to get another 4gb on monday.. At the time I looked they were 17.99 delivered on Play. I bought it for 16.99 delivered from Amazon.

I'm assuming the 16.49 is with quidco discount??

Nope, it's £16.49 before any cashback. It also comes with a card reader, making it the best deal of all for me.
  • Hi people,

just recently bought Lexars latest 8gb flash card for £67.84 free delivery from ebuyer.

One of the fastest cards available at 300x/45mbs and also is a decent brand so realiability shouldnt be a problem. Other prices i had seen sempt be be around £75-£200, so not a bad deal really.

    Hope this helps you guys.

    Andy
