I have just registered myself to take part in an auction to win a tailor made holiday worth £5000 anywhere in the world. it is only £10 to buy an auction seat.

    How great does this sound?

Sounds a bit dodgey to me.
  • I looked up a holiday on this website last year & I phoned FlightandHotel.co.uk regarding an advertised holiday. The guy proceeded to tell me about all of the "extras" that there would be, needless to say that the holiday price was significantly higher than advertised.

I do not think Travel supermarket is very good as the prices advertised are not the true cost of the holiday. Extras included suitcases(quite important if you are going on holiday) priority boarding(which you get anyway with young children) so I would suggest giving them a miss.

I am very surprised that Martin recommends using them, I would avoid them at all costs.
  • I went to Turkey last year and I used a lot of tips on this site to get me a cheap family holiday for five. However, when we got there it was more expensive than the UK to eat and drink - how do we know which countries are cheaper once you get there (not including the exchange rate)???

    Thanks!

    Sam
  • Hi all, me and my partner are thinking of going to somewhere in Greece however, we are stuck with the dates of 26th May returning 2nd June 09. Everything we have looked at cost's a fortune for that week as it's the school holidays. Just wondering if anyone knows how to get this week in Greece cheaper than what we have seen. We have been quoted more than £300 per person for different places in Greece, that is over our budget unfortunately. I'd be grateful for any response's.

    Thanks in advance,

    vcrazychickv.

Try Olympic Holidays website they have some good deals to Santorini (even better on 19th May). I find the best deals are always online, we save 100's on travel agents prices. Also try Thomas Cook's website. I'd book myself but we have already booked to Crete. Good luck.:D

Just managed to grab 6nts HB 3star+ hotel for a total cost for 2 adults of £342.35 incl CCC.

A 1 week stay came up at £550 but when I put in 6 nights the price dropped dramatically.

Flying out on Sat 9 May returning Fri 15 May.

Worth being creative when putting your dates in.

We're desperate to find a package holiday for August (anytime...7 days...10 days...14 days...whatever...!) for two adults and a 4 year old (all in one room) - everywhere seems SO expensive for summer holidays but my husband is a teacher so we don't have a choice. We're not worried where in the world as long as:
    a) swimming pool
    b) one room or self contained studio/apartment
    c) warm/sunny/hot

Near the sea/beach would be nice but not a must.

Any ideas where we could find a deal - I've looked on Olympic Holidays but they don't have anything under £1200 for all of us which is a bit above our budget. We would prefer to fly from Manchester/Midlands but can go from Luton/Stanstead/London airports.

Don't mind doing cheap flights and separate hotel bookings but again, I've not been able to find anything under £350 each...why does having children make life so difficult?!?!? hehe

Hi there we're in the same boat as our little girl started school this year. Olympic (and the other smaller tour operators) tend to only drop their prices about 6 - 8 weeks before if they have got lots of unsold hols. So there are deals now for May but not August.

We are going to wait until July and hope! There are definitely more deals around this year than last, presumably due to the pound/euro exchange rates. However I don't know if there will be deals for the school hols .... maybe not. If we can't get anything our plan is to save up hard and hopefully go to Cyprus around October half-term.

It really bugs me how much the prices rise in the school hols! Good Luck.
