OK, I get the idea of haggling for a package deal, & love the thought of trying it, BUT because we tend to save Tesco coupons (equivalent of £2000+ to spend so far), how do I haggle when I'm restricted to one or two companies?0

Hi all
Thinking of Thailand next year Jan/Feb time for 2 weeks. Anyone know of any good package deal sites or perhaps best to book flight and accomodation seperately? Thanks for your help.0 -
Hi Juliee,
I'd personally do a DIY job with the Thai trip as most of the package deals you see are only for 10 nights or less - it always surprises me the lack of 14 night deals you see as it seems such a long way to go for a week.
The other big benefit of a DIY job is that you can choose your itinery.
A lot of people don't like Bangkok but I think if you've not been to Thaliand before then it's a must and also if you're doing a DIY job then you'll most likely be flying into the city. Take in a couple of nights there and then move onto a beach resort. You could use of the economy asian airlines such as Air Asia to get me round Thailand domestically.
Hope that's been of some help!
Have a great trip,

We have just returned from Bangkok and Koh Samui and flew with Eva Airways, it was all organized by Trailfinders, they were brill. Our hotel in Koh Samui we booked ourselves, Trailfinders would have done this for us too but we booked one we liked ourselves( they did have it on their list) through the hotel web site but there are agencys that sometimes do hotels at a cheaper rate than the hotel web sites themselves. Alltogether the trip cost £1,200 each for top hotels and Eva Air was very good. Trailfinders will do everything for you, they also arranged internal flights, their prices are very good, they are on the internet and only have offices around the country not shops. Good LuckHi all

I'm not sure if this is completely relevant but I have just booked a holiday for 21st Jan 2009 through First choice.
I've got a 4 star self catering hotel with flights in Fuertureventura, Corralejo for a week from Manchester for £175 each (inc. credit card fee). The same holiday on another site was £340.
When I looked at ryanair, etc. they seemed like good deals until you added on fees for checking in bags and because of checked in bag you had to add on check in desk fees. This mounted up so we saved by going direct and didn't have to haggle.
All I can say is check around first before booking.:j0 -
I have just registered myself to take part in an auction to win a tailor made holiday worth £5000 anywhere in the world. it is only £10 to buy an auction seat.
How great does this sound?0
