Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com :)

• Hi Trix!

I was going to write a whole reply trying to explain what it was but I tried and it made me realise I don't know! The only thing I can tell you I know for certain is that we don't use it (hence why I don't know).

Perhaps have a look at the Vbulletin website? It'll probably tell you there :)

Sorry.. not much help I'm afraid

Andrea :o

Groups on vbulletin boards are complicated. I've seen many vbulletin boards but yet to see one use all the options. I've not read about them for about 2 years so completely from memory -

You already know of some Usergroups.
Everyone signed in is a member of the Registered Users group which gives them higher access than Unregistered (You can see some extra boards, PM users etc)

I'm a Board Guide and part of the Board Guide group giving me a few extra abilities.

Some people get themselves put in the PPR group and have less abilities.

There's also in vBulletin - though not used on MSE - the ability to create Public Groups that you could ask to join. These could have group leaders who could approve you.

For example, suppose photography was popular on MSE.
A photography group could be set up and one of the trusted members could be made the Photography Group Leader. To join the Photography group you would have a button to request membership and the leader could approve you.

Photography group members could be given special forum ablilites. Like special access to forums others aren't allowed in or the ability to post images directly onto the forum (rather than having to upload it on a third-party site like photobucket).

I agree with you Trix, sra is very helpful..................and such a diplomat.;) :D

Some people get themselves put in the PPR group and have less abilities.

I think we should forget the Photography Group and have a Sand Pit Group.
