My mum has just told me about a halogen oven by JML that I think works the same way...at only £49.99 I'm tempted to opt for that instead as I can't afford a remoska from Lakeland. What do you think? http://www.jmldirect.com/Halogen-Oven-PH1500/ :confused:

these are ok but they are not a patch on the remoska, they use far more electric and are much bigger - they are nowhere near as versitile as a remmy and dont cook nowhere near as well - to be honest nothing beats a remmy - if i were you i would wait and save for one

Going to cook the lasagne in a bit, got the focaccia doing its thing at the mo, will use the other half of the dough to make a deep pan pizza for the big kids to take as a snack when they go back on Thurs. Just need to dig some bolognese sauce from the freezer, whizz up a cheese sauce and assemble it, can't help but feel it's gonna be huge made in the moski - will have to move fast and freeze portions before the gannets get to it! Not made anything like this in there before, assume I need to put liner down so I don't scrape the bottom of the pan when I dish up?

  • omg. My sourdough went ballistic and grew and grew. I only did a 4 hour proving and it still carried on rising almost to the lid of the grand. I slit the top to slow it down and baked and turned it over to bake its bottom and re-turned it and surrounded it with silver foil around the edges and did some more baking. It is out and almost cool now and looks excellent but no way am I going to do such a big one again. I got carried away and kept adding flour. I weighed it after baking and it weighs in at a whopping 5 lb. :rotfl: :rotfl: Enough for two weeks

Next time I will aim for a 4 lb loaf
  • I find that oven chips cook as well as in a normal oven if you use a shallow pan and don't pile them up (single layer of chips is definitely the best way). If you need more chips i think it's quicker to do 2 batches than one big one.

I would agree with louitudor on this one, the remoska seems to be unique, I think it is overpriced but as Lakeland have cornered the market its not possible to get one anywhere else. Having said that they will save on energy and hence pay for themselves in the long run. Also Lakeland have good after sales service so not to bad really.

  • My remoska has been amazing this past week as we are replacing the kitchen and I have been able to cook for the family. I just want to say how brilliant lakeland have been. My shallow pan arrived yesterday slightly dented. I phoned them this evening and they are sending me out a replacement by courier and told me I can keep the other one, which altho dented is still good enough to use:j I cant wait to start doing some 'proper' cooking in it next week. only gripe is I have burnt myself a few times cos I'm only 5ft and find the lid quite heavy, but sure I will get the knack soon!

I love reading all the recipes and it's only because of all you guys posting your experiences I took the plunge and bought one, and I'm so glad I did.

  • I absolutely ADORE my remoska! I wish I had bought the grand (its only two of us but I made fish pie on Monday and had to cook it in the oven as the dish didn't fit in Remoska  (although maybe should make less as OH ate about 3 portions worth )

Have used it every day since I got it, and will make baked spuds to have with chilli tonight (chilli made on hob-I didnt get on with the slow cooker to make it-just stays really watery, and I can fit more in my big le creuset!!:D)

But-just want to confirm that the slight wobble of the pan in the stand is not normal-I will ring lakeland today as is day off if its not right :)

Also does anyone have any idea for alternatives to the separator dish? Am going to head to poundland this afternoon for (hopefully) silicon liner, and TK maxx for dishes that will fit in it, I just LOVE it and want to use it for everything, OH keeps laughing at me :rotfl:

have just worked out i haven't used my oven for four months - just my steamer, remoska and the odd thing cooked on the hob. Last night had guests and cooked a small joint of lamb in the big pan, steamed some pots and vegetables and made a cheese sauce and put it all in the small pan - when the lamb was resting I swapped the pans over and cooked the veg gratin - steamed some beans and broccoli at the same time. All done in just over an hour. While we were eating, a berry muffin-topped pudding thing cooked in the big pan. Huge meal for pennies in energy.
