I hadn't realised that the microwave steamer bags would go in the remoska.
    Thanks for the tip.
I'm guessing roasting bags are OK too?

IIRC I think it recommends these in the Remoska cookbook so should be fine!

Hi Maz, I went for the grande. There are 5 of us and I figured I can make a big one smaller with pots etc but cant make the smaller one bigger (if you know what I mean).

Has anyone found a good way of cleaning the top? My lid has some stains on which are proving difficult to shift, also the very edge has gone slightly discoloured. Is this normal?

thanks for the reply bargainaddict, its exactly what i was thinking, if i did more i can always freeze it, but will be going to the shop in solihull to view both and then i can make a clearer decision, but my heart is saying the grande for now and your tips too,

i just cant wait, it seems to me the oven is likely to be made redundant , like others here have said, so we shall see

have a fun day all keep posting, love all your ideas and comments

    ciao laters MAZ:beer:

  • When I was in Prague about 18 months ago I looked at the price of Remoskas there and they were only slightly cheaper than at Lakeland - and not enough cheaper to make it worth the bother of changing plugs and having a foreign instruction book. So Lakeland are in fact quite reasonable - and their customer service is second to none. Anyone want to hear the horror story of my coffee maker that hardly ever makes coffee? Wish I'd bought one from Lakeland instead!

I agree sleepylady, taking into account the strength of the pound against the euro now and also increased fuel costs to transport goods from country to country I suppose a £10 increase isn't too bad, I'm just a skinflint and like to get the bargain basement prices but sometimes you just have to have what you want!

    its here.................its here............ITS HERE!!!!!!!

There is a slight (and I mean slight!) dent in the pan BUT Lakeland are sending a new one! I wish I could blag is for a shallow pan rather than a deep one but two pans for the price of one and £10 off (ordered on 31st!) can;t be bad.

THanks to everyone on this thread, its your fault I am now £120.00 poorer. I just had to buy the recipe book AND the rack too!

I just need to use it now. Tomorrow I think as the SC is just about ready........NOW!

  • I have baked potatoes in it at the moment, I pricked them all over with a knife, and have just put them in.
They are making a fair bit of noise in there-is this normal?

(BTW rang them about the wobbly pan and they are sending me out a new stand so fingers crossed that works :D)
  • Doesn't sound normal to me hotcookie. What sort of noise exactly? A faint Sssss-ing would be ok. No harm in taking the lid off to check if you think there's a problem, though.
  • It was a sssssssss-ing noise, has stopped now (was for the first 10 or so minutes)

Do they go lovely and crispy like in the oven? At the moment they seem almost cooked but skin is not crispy at all.

    Hi BA
I took this rely from the Horray for Home Cookin website:

Hi my best friend (my remoska) is four years old and is still a loved and valued part of my family .. We share the same kitchen and it just loves to go camping. It also has many relatives that live with my famiiy and freinds. Unfortunateley the once beautiful shiny lid is no longer glamorous do you have any top tips on restoring "moska" to her former glory.Thanks.  Kind regards

    Hi Jayne
We would recommend you use Lakeland's stainless steel cleaner.

    Hopethis helps.
Hot cookie - my OH keep laughing at me too:D . Specially as I have just got rid of my 'GF health grill/. He keeps warning the moski that's it's future. Completely ignores the fact I used the grill a lot for 5 years, and was on my second one. I only stopped using it when we changed how we eat and I don't buy chops/burgers any more, so I've barely used it for 6 months and just don't have the space.
I'm still practising with my moski, but I can see I will be cooking more in it than I would ever have bothered with my oven. I do find the lid (I have a grand) a little clumsy to use - not helped by very low wall cupboards and not a lot of space and arthritis in wrists.
Thankd for the Poundshop tip re lining.
Maz - I had the same dilemma re standard/grand, as there are just 2 of us - I went to look at them and thought the standard looked too small for at least 50% of the use I hoped to make of it. I do batch cook when I can and freeze portions. And I have recently started making my own bread and you can get a 2lb loaf tin in the grand. There are def things I would do that would just need a standard but i reckoned I'd ultimately be more frustrated by the standard. Perhaps I'll end up like despH and buy a 2nd one:rotfl:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I bought a standard and really wish I'd invested in the grand instead! There are just two of us, but I do make good use of leftover portions, and the standard isn't big enough for roasting meat/chooks IMO. I can see that I will end up trading up for a bigger one eventually.
