We have started picking runner beans as well, so the last lot of french beans went into the freezer.......quote]
Csarina you've just reminded me! I did some sliced halloumi cheese & a splash of olive oil in the remoska for lunch and chucked some chopped runner beans out of the garden in with them, it was lovely with a salad. It didn't brown the cheese like it would in a frying pan but I suspect if I left it in longer it would have done. (Liver & bacon sounds delish)Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I did trout today on the bottom. Easy peasy and was lovely. Brushed with melted butter and stuffed with lemon, mint and parsley. Little potatoes on the rack sprayed them with olive oil. Excellent result again. I can`t fault the remoska
Some questions now that I have ordered mine. I have gone for the Grand but won't have it until after 15th as they are out of stock but I have waited so long, I can wait another few days.
I did what Morganlefay suggested (Thanks) and said I was going to order it from the Out of the Kitchen catalogue and they have honoured the old price.
Was this a whole trout or trout fillets and did you cook them for the same length of time that you would in the oven?
I haven't ordered a shallow pan as I don't quite understand why I would need it. I have ordered the rack and assumed I could use some silicone bakeware that I already have instead of getting the shallow pan? Am I right in thinking this?
Would I need to use silicone bakeware or magic liner when using the deep pan or can I just put food straight onto the pan?
Does it matter if I am using silicone bakeware if it is smaller than the actual size of the pan, say for example if I am just cooking a small amount of food?0 -
I have just ordered some individual silicone cupcake cases on ebay so will let you know how it goes.
Do you think an all in 1- ie cooked in a deep dish would work? might have ago later.
I was hoping to get thebun cases from Asda, but could not trace them on internet order, so went to the next town looking for them, ended up spending £10 on other stuff as they did not have them.
Shopndrop- you can just put food straight onto the pan, also fine to use smaller bakeware than the pan-makes it easier to get out.
I have no silicone stuff yet but have a teflal liner-cut to size £1.99 Home Bargins- i have put pyrex stuff on this and had no trouble at all.
Have not used the Remska for 2 days-as out all day friday, and had burgers and sausages cooked on the george for lunch sat and were out for tea, so feel I must use it today!
The trout sounds yum- but on a misson to use up all stuff in my freezer- only buying staples, tins etc plus special offers at mo.
Might do some dough in breadmaker, and cook bread in Remoska, also will give ds`s pizza for lunch.
Better get up-still in bed!0 -
Just used our new Remoska for the very first time. Nothing fancy or ooh laa laa, just 8 rashers of bacon for Sunday morning bacon rolls. Quite impressed actually, the bacon was plain ordinary Somerfields smoked back & it came out just as we like it. Took about 15 mins, we all had a moment looking through the glass window to see how it was doing. Quick rinse of the pan ... & no bacon stuck to the bottom of it either.
Yep. Impressed. Gunna try something adventurous this evening :-)0 -
To me this is half the appeal of the remoska. No pots & pans to wash. In our house that means "sit around teh kitchen until I can be assed to wash them" ....:D0

I have never had much success with baking cakes with the exception of Christmas cake which usually come out quite well.
Yesterday, as the weather was so bad, I decided to have a baking afternoon.
I made a victoria sponge cake and it was wonderful. It rose well and was so even in height and colour and was very moist. Not something I ever got from my cooker.
I baked each sandwich tin individually so it did take double the time (20 mins for each tin).
Has anyone managed to cook both at the same time and if so, how?
OH was very impressed and I have even decided to enter one in the village show.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I love mine too. I am also a 'throw anything into the pot' gal and as a result, I have had some lovely meals but I can never quite replicate them :rotfl:
Am going to bake a cake this afternoon in it.
I have fallen in love with my Remoska:o :j0 -
We were at the lottie this morning, picked french beans, beetroot, climbing beans......I also brought back some spuds for supper.
Have just cooked a chicken, roast spuds and courgettes in the Remoska, accompanied by HG carrots and climbing beans.......in the steamer with tomato and gartlic sauce........
Its my birthday 65 today, so opened a bottle of champers to go with it.......scrummy...............
Mixed fruit compote and ice cream for afters...........compote cooked in the Remoska of course, then chilled in the fridge................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
I made scones from the booklet which came with my grand, made the mistake of thinking i could cook the whole batch in 1 go, could not fit all on bottom, so put some on rack, they fell through!!
I recused them and swished together, so will get eaten!
Next time I am going to make a scone round, ie cook it all together and score like you would a shortcake.
Tommorow will be toad in the hole.
Tues we are having pork casserole, not sure if to cook in slow cooker or remoska?0 -
Happy birthday Csarina! Here's a cake I've just cooked for you in my remoska lol! :bdaycake: Your dinner sounds delish! I too did a chicken today it was so big I had to keep it warm while I did the roast spuds but give them a bit of a blast in the micro to speed it up a bit. We had some bread done in there and DD1 has just made some muffins and I have just taken them out and going to have them in a mo with a cuppa!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
