I really like this cooker --I did a big batch of rock buns yesterday, most in my horrible new cooker and some in the remoska. The last ones came out much nicer golden brown with no burnt bits. The horrible elect oven did as it always does --tops horrible pale cream and the bottoms burnt black. I am so glad I got this thanks to you lovely people.0

160 - pleeeeze get your Remoska out and give another try. I've got a week's holiday the week after next (so can visit Lakeland at Salisbury) and I'm desperate to know if I NEED to buy one or not!!!!! I've been looking for years at them but haven't been able to make up my mind / justify the cost.
Following all the praise of solw cookers I've just bought one of them (and am v pleased with it) but I may need a Remolska as well - it's up to you to convince me!!!!
My shopping list for Lakeland is growing daily!!!
Hi Jaybee, I bought a Remoska recently from Lakeland and like you had been looking at them for ages - I decided on the medium one as it is only for myself and felt that with rising electric prices it would probably justify the cost as it uses so little electricity, So far I have cooked fish/added the sauce a few mins before the end/jacket pototoes/toasted sandwiches/casseroles and it has been excellent. I also have a slow cooker but the Remoska compliments this in the kitchen.
Oh forgot to add, I cooked some muffins just spooned in (not in paper cases) and they were great.
I think Lakeland are on the Quidco site too for cash on purchases if you purchase online.0 -
Smarter ---was it easy to clean the pan after them ?0

The standard Remoska was still priced at £79.99 in the Edinburgh shop yesterday morning.
Bought one and going to use it for the first time later today.0 -
I've read this thread through a couple of times and I am seriously thinking of buying one. I keep looking on the Lakeland website and the 'hooray for home cooking' at all the recipes you can do. It sounds good.
There are 4 of us at home (2 adults & 2 teenagers) should I go for the grande or the standard?

I asked much the same question further up the thread and was advised to buy the Grande. I just wish I'd got around to ordering it before the price went up :mad:0

I dithered about ordering one of these for months and took the plunge this week - mainly because of the positive comments on here
. It came within 48 hours and I managed to get it before the price went up. I got the middle size.
I am so pleased that I went for it. I have made jacket potatoes - lovely, oven chips, yorkshire pud, sponge cake, warmed up vegetarian sausage rolls, even made a 'fried' egg for my son's breakfast.
Wish I had bought this years ago. I emailed the team before I bought it as I am vegetarian and wondered if I would get much use out of it. Jill, one of the hooray for homecooing team, emailed me back very quickly with some lovely recipes. The team are planning to produce a vegetarian cookbook in the future.
I have lined the base of the pan with a non stick oven liner I trimmed to fit - think I bought it from Aldi earlier this year for about £1.00 - to protect the base of the pan from my cooking dishes. The bonus is that it makes cleaning up even easier after cooking, although I have to say that the pan is so easy to clean anyway. I also bought the standard rack so that I can either place food nearer the lid or have several dishes cooking at the same time.
Very pleased with this purchase. Am going to make a vegetarian goulash with Quorn tomorrow. May have a go at making bread in it too.0 -
I have had the grande Remoska for a couple of years now - there are 4 of us and I wouldn't consider it too big at all.
I would recommend that anyone dithering on what size to get to go for the Grande, esp if you plan to do a lot of baking.:happylove0 -
Thanks for the info, very informative, I have bitten the bullet and ordered the grand so hoping it will come this week. I know its a lot of money to shell out but I really think that it will pay for itself in the long run, bearing in mind the energy price rises.
I'm looking forward to having a play with it and trying out some new recipes as I could do with a few changes (you can get into a rut with cooking)
I like to bake but find that I don't really want to put the oven on for just a few buns because of the cost so it will be nice to knock up a few buns or scones for the kids before they come home from school.
Lakeland seem to be very good, I can even take it back if I'm not happy with it so you can't go wrong!
I'll keep my eye on this thread for ideas so thanks everyoneSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
