Thanks, Lakeland are good. If I go for the grande, I would like a shallow pan, but they seem very over priced would a cake tin do the trick if so what diamenter does it need to be.
I think a cake tin probably would do but they are tricky to find for the grand - I eventually found a german onion tart pan which was big enough, but most british cake tins are too small.
However, I did get a shallow pan a bit later on as the cake tin was too shallow and I'm so glad I did - I use the shallow pan far more often than I use the deep one and it conducts the heat so much better than the cake tin. (possibly because the lip of the lid is in perfect contact with the lip of the pan?)
I know that some people get the rack to get things closer to the heat so they cook more quickly in the standard pan (as the rack is so much cheaper than a shallow pan). I always seem to find that most of my stuff browns quicker on the bottom that it does on the top so I reckon that the shallow pan is worth the expense.
On a completely different note - I was thrilled to discover yesterday that broccoli and cauliflower cooks perfectly in the remoska and comes out exactly the same as if it had been steamed (I had lots of room left in the remoska when I was braising some leeks and it seemed a waste not to use the space up)

Well I've just returned from Lakeland in Handforth today with a standard size remoska, so excited!
The lady in the store mentioned the problem with the electrics tripping, and said they had been on to the factory and that it was moisture gathering in the handle, but that if you undid the 2 screws on the top, and left it to dry for a day that sorted it.
Bought mine from the bargain area, reduced by £30 for damaged packaging, thay had a few there if anyone else is interested."Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets and then teams up with three complete stangers to kill again."-- TV listing for the movie, The Wizard of Oz,0 -
Just wanted to thank Mrs McC for her bread recipe for the Remoska - I made it as it was and then used it to make bread rolls today. It made 8 in a lovely ring with one in the middle and they look fabulous! The bread was great, but the rolls are something else.
Thanks everyone for the wonderful ideas for everything that you are doing in the Remoska - have had mine a couple of months and just keep finding more and more that I can use it for.December GC: £3500 -

Second day owning a Remoska. Finished work early and cooked an Aldi frozen Romagny Pizza (£1.79) in the shallow pan for lunch, was great.
Dinner I did the whole roast chicken thing. I put the parboiled spuds in with the bird, a little bit of goose fat, and it was all great but I did have to take the chicken out and rest it in foil so that I could ladle all the liquid out of the pan (deep pan) in order to finish browning the potatoes and the stuffing balls (they would have broiled otherwise). It did all taste great though. Between the Remoska, steamer and my slow cooker I intend to make my cooker virtually redundant.0 -
I finally decided to try McCain's oven chips at the weekend. Did them in the deep pan but they took about 45-50 mins. They were OK but just took soooooo long. As I was going into Chester yesterday, I decided to treat myself to the shallow pan as I have read so many threads on here about how much quicker some things cook in the shallow pan. I did notice that they had quite a lot of "damaged/scuffed" deep pans on the shelf though.
Will post back on different timings in either deep or shallow pan for anyone interested.0 -

I want one, have found a few cashback sites that lakeland use or the BA shop and get BA miles (as I am saving for a one off First class Ticket) might use this, cant find any discount codes. I see some shops are doing a 10% off night but alas none of the ones near me. Any one know of any other ways to get one of these at a bit less, I want the shallow pan as well, so its quite a lot of money.Pawpurrs x0

Pawpurrs, I had the same trouble, only found two codes both out of date. Evenyually resigned to signing up with www.giveortake.co.uk cashback for 4% which isn't a bad thing as they do have quite a few sites that quidco don't.DC.
