Regarding 999inks.co.uk, I placed my order late on Monday night and received the refill kit today (Wednesday) - excellant service.

My experience was the opposite. I ordered waited a week and no ink. Had to email them 3 times to get the ink and even then it took 4 days to arrive. I will NOT be using them again!

Got to say we generally get ours next day from eco-office - they are fantastic prices and great customer services - I really can't praise them enough after the last time my ink ran out and I got in touch with them at 5.45pm and my ink arrived the next morning - they really saved my skin/deadline!

I walked into my local Wilkinsons in Coventry a few weeks ago and found:

Jettec multipack for S300: 2 x black + 1 x colour for 4.99 (or was it 4.50?) They might even be refillable - I'll have to double check.

Other than that, I went to Refillexpress in Cov at the start of the year (after coming back from NZ) and got black and colour for 14 quid with a B.O.G.O.F. (yes, not very money saving, but I needed ink fast for sending off job application letters and CVs).

On a slight OT note - I've also had to spend 47 quid  to get a replacement print head for my S300 because the old one was all gummed up and causing streaks - nothing would clean it up, and there're few UK distributors who have them at all .

I used to use kathemmi.co.uk, which was recommended by a friend, but they're no longer in business, sadly - they also switched to dance clothing about 6 mo-1 year after I started using them.

Shame - they were reasonable too.

Be very careful with Jet-Tec ones, they dont have the prism in them that tells the printer its out of ink, you can very easily get a blocked and damaged printhead that cant be fixed

This should not be a problem if you watch your prints coming out of the printer as you will notice the output becoming progressively fainter. Is that the way to make sure your print heads are not put in any danger?

Possibly, but its better for the printer to tell you rather than checking yourself all the time, you shouldnt have to check yourself.

Its only Jet-Tecs that have this problem as far as i know, i havent used them for a few years because of this they may have changed.

I think my S300 counts the pages it prints: when you change the cartridge, you reset the appropriate ink tank counter in the printer maintenance functions for the Windows driver.

To be honest, I only got the Jet-Tec ones because I needed to print some stuff out urgently that day (and they were cheap). So far they seem to be OK.

I'm going to get another brand, such as G&G, next time using the links we MoneySavers have found :j.

Anyway, I think I'll try Morrisons ones in there next - they're fairly reasonable (IMHO), but not the cheapest I've seen (I think 2.50 quids for black, and about 3 quid for colour).
