The Canon Original Cartridges are PG-40 (Black) and CL-41 (Colour)
I've been looking around for weeks now, and compatibles seem non existant.
Thanks,
Andy.
You won't be able to find compatibles for these cartridges as Canon have patented the ink so no one else can make carts that work in these printers.
Its a right pain. My printer was quite inexpensive but i didn't think to check the price of the cartridges, i assumed that compatibles would be easily available. I won't be making that mistake again!! However choice stationary supplies appear to be the cheapest for the originals, coming in at £10.70 and £13.20 for the colour, which isn't bad.0 -
Andy, I agree with lavenderblue that choice stationery is currently best for price. Unfortunately, I think they may be out of stock as I ordered some two days ago and have received no info on delivery.0

Two years is obviously a long time in the world of e-commerce. My recent experience of this company has been appalling - they happily take your money for goods which they don't have in stock, won't reply to emails, don't call you back when they promise - even their 'order tracking' website is down today !
All signs this company is either very badly run, or is going out of business. AVOID AVOID AVOID.0 -
Is it true that Canon printers do what's called 'Ink Priming?' I was thinking of getting an MP600 printer, but someone mentioned that it uses ink every time you turn it on, shortly after you print, when you turn if off etc. In other words, using ink when you don't print. Is this true, and can this function be turned off?0

I ordered an ink cartridge for the above printer, Canon PG 40 from Choice Stationary on Sat 12th, early afternoon for £10.70. On their website, it says that goods are dispatched on the same day and as I had completely run out of ink and needed to print some tickets, I was hoping they would dispatch on Monday.
In fact when I rang them on Wednesday, it had still not been dispatched and after some persuading, they have now dispatched from Jersey, which I know takes longer. BTW it's always dispatched from Jersey.
As I was desperate for the cartridge, I ordered another one yesterday, through an Amazon seller, foxy ink, http://foxyink.co.uk
It cost me £11.39 including postage and I have just received it. No sign of the Choice Stationary order yet.
So if you need the cartridge ASAP, you may want to try the Amazon seller.“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us...."0 -
After having the waste of suposedly compatible cheaper cartridges.I'm now going to buy the reasonably priced originals.Alot of sites don't sell for my printer which is a canon pixma ip6700d for my last order i used the cartridge people.com and got a donation to charity through easyfundraising. It was £7.80 a cartridge if you ordered 3 or more.
I think it would be a better idea to start a seperate thread for original cartridges and keep this for compatibles or refills.0 -

I think ip6700d uses the same inks as my mp600 (cli-8xx). Tesco direct is selling these 4 for the price of 3 atm so work out about 7.50 each if you have a tesco direct collection point nearby.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -

Thanks for your reply i'll have to look into that.I'm grateful for the list to give me the best chance at finding the cheapest option available.0 -
Re: genuine Canon black ink cartridge for the Pixma MP510: I've just checked out many of the links in this thread and (with their free postage) Choice Stationery were the cheapest (£8.90 inc. VAT and delivery). Can pay via Paypal as well.
