Handbags? :rotfl: Pockets of my jeans do the job fine ;)

I too am trying to OP the "unmissed" money - and I've just emptied the MP and counted up £50! :p Admittedly £20 of that was a one-off (withdrawing cash I thought I'd need but didn't), but there was £20 of £2 coins as well and a shedload of shrapnel :D

I try to pay annually wherever possible for things like insurance (having accrued it for the year until it becomes due). You're right about the tax change at the end of September though, that'll be another tenner a month for the MP :)

I have a little savings a/c (called "Piggy Scraps") where I shift all the oddments to electronically, eg. the slight reduction in mortgage payments since June, any bank interest earned, Amazon payments etc) - that then gets put to the mortgage ("Greedy Pig") when there's about £50 in there - I might start shifting it more often once the faster payments come in ;)

I'm not scrimping and saving particularly any more than I ever did, I'm pretty low-cost anyway (handbags not being essential purchases ;) ) - although I am spending rather a lot on archery stuff just now...

Speaking of which, just had a 2-day shoot, didn't manage to beat my coach but didn't disgrace myself either (I don't think...). Alas, one of my arrows got itself decapitated  and I have another two MIA, so now I only have 6 in service - I can see another spend coming on in the next couple of weeks for some new ones! :o

LOL - you need to find yourself a fletcher as a friend I can see. I do know of one, but he's probably rather too far North to be of help to you, being on the Outer Hebrides! :rotfl:

Hey, I can fletch my own arrows ;) (after a fashion - I've done about half a dozen so far as when I got them (2nd hand) they all had black and white vanes - not much use against b&w targets!!). Although after yesterday, I've discovered that my nice blue nocks aren't too visible at 80 yards either :o So I'm thinking orange nocks with yellow and red fletchings for the new ones.

I'll probably get all the components and build them myself to save a few quid (although by the time I get to the 12th arrow I may well regret that decision!!). They are only plastic vanes though - probably easier to do than proper feathers! The people at my club are pretty good with showing me how to do things - they just roll their eyes a lot

On a completely different subject, I've just tried to walk my mentalist dog with a Halti for the first time - and what a difference, it was like walking a different dog!! He pulled me over the other day :o , and I was reading a thread about Haltis this morning - so I thought I'd finally try the one I was loaned a while back and which has been sitting around unused ever since.

I just hope he'll let me put the thing on him again later - it was really nice to be able to walk him down the main road of the village, something I've never done since adopting him in March because it was such a nightmare the couple of times I tried it!!

He wasn't keen on it at first, but he didn't seem too bothered once he realised he could still eat treats and drink from puddles, as well as be detached from the lead to chase deer :D (that was in the woods, not along the main road I hasten to add).

Just come back from the bank, paid in my MP funds (£45 - left the fiver in there so he's not starving ;) ) and had some money come in from Amazon, so have OP'd another £80, making my August total £140 and my ytd £770 out of £2k target.

So I need another £307.50 per month Sep-Dec to reach my target... hmmm....

Halti experiment going well, have done 3 walks with it now - only one was on the main road though... will try again this afternoon :)

    Hey moomin!

    Sounds like you're doing great with the OP's - an extra £309 a month? No prob:eek: !!

I need to find £118.50 a month to stay on target and I'm wondering how I'm gonna do it......................

But now I'm not - (Joint) Mortgage £104704.
    New MFW target £5000 overpayments by 31/12/2105 £400/£5000 = 8%
    SAVINGS TARGET - £25000 by 31/12/2015 £13643/£25000 = 55%

  • Hi all,

Just sent £60 to my Smile a/c - still by (snooze) BACS though, so that'll be a week there and back to the Hfx again - whenohwhenohwhen are FPs going to materialise? Pah!

Am hoping to get a bit more in from Amazon and hopefully manage to pay some lodger-cash in this month as well... assuming I don't lose too many more arrows

Doesn't look like my insurance tracked through Quidco :( possibly because I'd been onto the website to get a quote already... and alas it wouldn't let me start from scratch as it recognised my postcode & surname. Ho hum. Still a lot cheaper than I was expecting, so no disaster.
  • Hi all,

Haven't posted anything for a while so thought it was about time... not that I've got much to report really!

Have "invested" in the makings of some new arrows... now I need to invest the time to make them up - especially after losing a few more during a recent shoot :o (but at least I won this time, yay me! )

Have OP'd £190 in September so far - hopefully there'll be a bit more to come.

Just about to go and buy a wallpaper stripper (not very MS, but I need it NOW! ) so I can get rid of a nasty pink border in my hallway. Am then planning on repainting the walls (over the old wallpaper - I may live to regret this) and sticking a new border where the old one was. No doubt screams of frustration and anguish will follow shortly.

That's pretty much it really - except a special mention for my stalker who's just been up to see me for a few days ;) ... and now is away again for 6 long weeks :(:(

Edit: And I wish they'd fix the flippin' smilies!!

Yes... the sinister-looking ones! Hopefully all will be fixed soon, I thought it was my laptop at first but found a couple of threads referring to the Red X problem :)
  • Ooooh, smilies are back, yay! :j

    Ahem.

What I actually popped in for was to say that I've just managed to get £5 knocked off my monthly broadband charge (BT), yippee, and they'll give me free evening calls for the same line rental I'm paying now (which only has free weekend calls).

Hardly ever use the phone, but it's a result nonetheless and saves me the hassle of shopping around / changing broadband providers. Better the devil you know and all that, and I've never had a problem with the BT phone line or the b/band.

Got another £30 in transit somewhere for an OP as well... Hfx FPs STILL not active, got another unhelpful message from them today saying it'll definitely be in September...
