    Hi all,

A little update from me...have decided to include July's OPs of £630 as part of the grand plan, although maybe cheating a bit :o because £500 was additional borrowing I decided I didn't need, so transferred it back to the mortgage!

The other £130 is bonafide MSing though ;) although it's still in transit between Smile and Hfx... should hopefully show by mid-week.

    Bye for now
    M

PS I should also confess that my £30 in PayPal just went towards a new (second-hand) bow... but it was something that I'd been saving for for a few months, honest!

Just a little update from me...

Not much to report, August OPs are going to be very low due to this being the first month of the new remortgage (ie. very hefty first payment)...

Have got £60 OP in transit just now though, so that's better than nothing. I'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks, but recent expenditure has been somewahat higher than usual due to maintenance and, erm, toxophily! :o Ah well, it's only money, as I've been told :)

    Today it's raining and I'm depressed :(

Hope August improves on all fronts!! Good luck to all other MFWs this month :)

Myslef and my partner bought our first home nearly 2 years ago. Since then we've made around £3k in overpayments. Its a good feeling to watching the monthly payments go down little by little, also knowing we are saving ourselves a shedload of interest to pay.
  • Hi moominyak,

Just read your thread, good luck with your challenge.

Any overpayment no matter how small can make a lot of different in your term over the years, so keep the payments up.

    Hiya
I've been lurking on here for a while too. I'm aiming to have our add on mortgage (for an extention and house repairs) paid off by next Easter and then i'll be joining this board properly to become mortgage free. Good luck with the overpayments xx

Thanks everybody for words of encouragement... that's the trouble when you can't feed the addiction, it gets a bit gloomy - I want to see my minimum repayment come down again!! :(

Am hoping to shift a few CDs etc on Amazon this month (if I can get myself into gear to list them), so there may be a bit more to come!

Tomorrow is another day and all that :)

    Hi moominyak,

Don't get down about not having overpayments to hand. If you take a look at my signature, a very very small percentage of my mortgage was overpaid with my OH's bonus, the rest has been done through the ideas on this forum. It does seem very hard work to begin with (and it continues, when I think about it) BUT the results soon start to show.

I don't know if you have found a mortgage calculator yet - there is a stickie with them on this board - just put in the smallest overpayment and you will be amazed at how much interest you will save. It helps keep me motivated_pale_!

    Good luck with your quest.
