Out came the door hangers again this morning - not got on as well as I thought !
One (for my son) was a bit torn round the circle part but I got round that by plaiting a shoe lace and glueing it round the side that was torn.........then I ran out of letters that I was sticking on so can''t finish that off yet !
Had a look at the beige and brown one and it's a bit too torn round the circle part so going to have to do that again and haven't got any paper left !!
Baby grandsons was going fine then I noticed that the santa I stuck on the 'santa please stop here' side sticks out a bit and when its turned round the the 'shhh, nap time' side it doesn't look so good..............so, thats still not done.
    Green one...........well I'd given up by then................

Oh lor.............why does it take me so long to get these things done............... rainmac - help !!! Ideas please about baby grandsons................what to do.........???

Am now getting in a panic situation ...........still seems so much to do at this rate I'll still be doing it in January..............

    Small rant over :o

Oh Mary - sounds like you're having a lot of problems, I bet they'll look great when they're finished though. Don't worry it takes me ages to get round to doing stuff too.

melissa - relieved to know its not just me..................lol

OH just put in his twopenneth and it actually helped ...............lol
Baby grandsons hanger has a teddy in pj's on the other side to 'santa' and I've stuck it on a bit of freebie fabric -nice soft grey/blue and overlapped it a bit so it covers the back of santa. Then I'm going to stick a blue ribbon down one side with his name on it and put ribbon at the top. That'll be him sorted.

The cream and brown one OH has managed to sand down round the edges to smooth off my tears (why didn't I think of that ?) - now about to google images for some shoes and bags in a sort of brown colour.
All me handbag embellishments are pink !!
Still not sure what to do with the dark green one though and can't remember who I was going to give it to..................lol

Boot fair in the morning so might not get as much done tomorrow as I thought so am making a list for the whole week and hoping.............:rotfl:

melissa - they do have their uses.............lol Poor soul, day after day he sees me cover the kitchen table with paper, glue, all sorts of nonsense just when he's trying to read the paper................lol 10 out of 10 for tolerance and rescuing me from major panic this afternoon:j

Your OH sounds really useful Mary, do you want to send him over to help me get all my bits and bobs done...? My OH puts up with me but doesn't muck in and help when I get things a bit wrong, unless I start crying... :rotfl:

I've finished my last 2 hangers for Xmas, phew :j

The one on the left is for a 3 year old girl and the other is for a friend of my mum's. I used the same pink backing paper for both but used girlie princess 3d stickers for one and a bit more grown up stickers for the other! They are VERY pink and not very me but I quite like them. Have made several minor muck ups with the cutting but think they are ok to give. The label in the pocket of the one on the right says "...shhh I'm sleeping" on one side and "quiet...it's me time" on the other.

rainmac - they're beautiful.....................how many more have you got to do ?........................lol

I've added on another thread that I've almost done baby grandsons hanger........santa stop here side is finished............on the other side stuck piccy of teddy in pj's on blue/grey fabric -stuck is a bit to the left so it covers up the back of the santa image on the other side.
OH had suggested blue ribbon as backing for the letters but I've ended up usin g brown (tones in the the teddy) - consulted with OH first...................lol
Still got two more to finish off but don't feel so much in a state of panic now................lol

  • I read all the door hanger thread posts here you are very clever and inspired rainmac and everyone.

Those princess hangers are very beautiful, that and the butterfly paper ones are my favourite.

My aim ..haha she says so optimistically is to make a cookery/ gardening one, a book library one and a doggy one for various members. If I can with patience achieve those I would love to do a baby one for myself.

On the website eclat crafts there is some good baby and doggy papers and fun tiles stickers and jumbo brads.

I`ve seen a piece of 12*12 aged book scrapbook paper on ebay and would like to do a little velum envelope with the words shhh on it How do you do you writing please rainmac so its looks so neat.

    :A smiles .

also to all Door Hanger Makers what is the best way to stick on embelishments ??

    thanks for reading Love B

rainmac really is an inspiration as are all who've done them.:T

Sticking on embelishments - some of mine have been self adhesive, others I've used pritt stick or pva glue -(for fabric pieces pva) or the glue dots. Hope that helps:j

  • Thanks Mary I have to sit and make a long list of all the bits I need so glue dots sounds the easiest.

I hope to see some of your finished door hangers Mary you sound as if you have some lovely ideas.

The thing I like is that they can suit all ages from the toxic teenager ones I`ve seen to the children ones they can be made really personal which I`m sure the recipentappreciates.

    cheers B
