Just had DMC ringing me telling me NOT to go with CCCS.....

I feel sorry for the people who are on DMPS with companies that are making money out of them, who are probably unaware of the free ones and actually unaware that you can do it yourself if you organise yourself.
Im lucky that I knew about this site before I had a problem.
This site is a a godsend for many of us who use it
Thanks all !Dmp Mutual Support thread member No 820 -
equally though there are a lot of people who come on here having no experience of DMCs or free companies and looking for a bit of advice on options - to be greated by comments saying all DMCs are corrupt
CCCS are there to help if you want them , there is no pressure. That's where the DMC's are wrong. Not by charging money, that's up to them, but by bad mouthing those who will do it for free and by hassling and putting pressure on people who are already under stress.
Everyone on here who has been in the same boat can give advice on options, from personal experience...... and I've not heard anyone say anything good about a fee paying DMC.
The one I turned down a few weeks ago rang my mobile today, even though when he was speaking to me doing his sales pitch he promised they would never do that as it is a medical emergency line.0 -

Not corrupt but the comments have as good as said it (only interested in profits etc). The stuff about charity status wasn't made by me, I haven't said anything against the service the C.C.C.S. provide and nor have I said always go with a fee paying company. I have purely said there are fee-charging companies out there who are a valid option depending on circumstancesCCCS are there to help if you want them , there is no pressure. Again I haven't bad mouthed anyone (except the cowboy DMCs)0 -
One Question and would like a simple answer,
If you can get it for free, why pay for it ?Dmp Mutual Support thread member No 820 -
Not a question that has a simple answer as it depends on the individual situation of each person looking for a DMP. However as a basic point the C.C.C.S. provide a no-frills Debt Management Plan (where you know to the day when it will finish). Most DMCs do exactly the same, so yes why pay for it. A rare few, however go above and beyond, whether it is educating how to not only get out of debt but to stay out, reducing bill payments, helping with money management, settlements, legal help and advice etc.0

If you can get it for free, why pay for it ?
We remortgaged last year, and took up the option of free conveyancing (ie paid for by the mortgage company). We ended up dealing with an online comapany who were very obviously providing a cut-price service, with overworked advisors and very little in the way of hand-holding for us. If I had the choice again, I'd prefer to pay for a local conveyancer who had more time & resources to deal with us.
The same with estate agents - the worst service I've ever had is from an estate agent who offered us an amazingly cheap deal (and the best service ever was from the other party's estate agent in that same chain who went out of his way to keep everyone happy and keep everything moving along so that the sale would go through and, of course, so he would get his commission).
Maybe when it comes to DMPs people don't have the luxury of choice, and maybe DMCs vs debt charities is a different case, but certainly in other legal areas in my experience I would not take the cheapest option if I could avoid it.0 -
. There are good companies out there, so please by all means state an opinion but don't label an entire industry with your comments.
We can only speak as we find hon, and the absence of posts from people who are thrilled with their debt management company is probably quite telling.
My personal experience is that I have never come across one of these companies who didn't either lie to me or encourage me to lie to my creditors. (Usually both!) so that's the opinion I express.
Plus this board if often full of people who have had very bad experiences with fee paying companies, so this has reinforced my opinion.
You are part of one of these companies so you are keen for us to believe good things about them just because you say so.
However, we don't know you, or your company so we're probqbly not just going to have a sudden epiphany and start questioning our beliefs just because someone with an anonymous alias online tells us to.
You're fighting a losing battle honey.

I realise it is a losing battle, however all I want is for you to say "I had a bad experience with company z or company y, not to say fee-charging DMCs are bad news0 -

Oh we name and shame as well.
And if any of us ever ever ever find a non shonky DMC we'll put it up in lights - well on a sticky at the top of the board at least.
All the DMC's I have had any dealings with have been dodgy honey so that's all I can say about them. You'll have to take my word for it that I maintain an open mind on the subject though.
