Briefs to boxers?

Hi,
What is the "normal" age for a little box to switch from wearing briefs to boxers?
I know there's probably no specific age, however what age did your DS make the switch?
Thanks.

My DS1 is 8 and just changed over to boxers recently
Although he still wants 'normal' pants as well, because boxers aren't comfy with jeans :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. i have twin lads, one changed to boxers at around 9 the other still prefers briefs, and does not like boxersenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0

DS3 made the switch at secondary school or thereabouts, but the older two are still in briefs.
Also DS3 has different styles because he needs close fitting ones to take his protective equipment when playing cricket!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
DS1 hated briefs from the word go and wanted to be like Daddy and wear boxers. DS2 hates boxers and has stuck to briefs . Makes it easy for laundry0

My DS wanted me to buy him some boxers like daddy's when he was about 6 - he now (age just 8) owns a combination of boxers and briefs and tends to wear briefs most of the time - unless he's wearing jeans and then likes the waistband of his boxers to show!!
I don't think there's a right/wrong time just whatever is comfortable!0 -
Dont worry, my husband made the change at 20 and his brothers still wear them at 23 judging by their piles of washing.
Why not move from briefs to those tighter fit boxer shorts before they go on to a looser type to get them used to it? Dunno if that would be any help.0 -
Do they have to make a switch - what's wrong with briefs or shorties? Am I missing something in the underwear style stakes?
Personally I loathe boxers on a bloke, too baggy, can ride up and occasionally flaps open to reveal a bit more than you were bargaining for!Saving to pay the tax man0 -
Let him wear what he wants. Lots of men wear briefs. .Some of us even wear different underwear depending on what we are wearing or doing.
Froim memoery it wa only in the eighties with that Levi's ad that boxers became popular again. I seem tor ecall they were pretty un-fashionable before then. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
My children chose their own undies right from the very beginning, and both boys opted for the jersey type knitted boxers once they'd gone off the briefs with Batman/Power Rangers or whatever on them. We're all extremely pernickety about our pants in this house, and once a comfortable style has been sourced we're very loyal:D0
