SIM Only Plan Comparison (Correct to 23/08/2008)

Just a quick question for anyone who has purchased the Vodafone Sim Only online: Can one port in a number after the purchase, or only when buying it online (I notice that it asks for the PAC code in the purchase process) ?
Yes you can port your number in after purchase, but it will speed things up if you have contacted your network provider, got a PAC code and can give them your code in the online process. But as I said, it is possible to do afterwards.0 -
If you want the Virgin sim only 300mins/300 texts for £10/month call 0800 1839146 before 21.7.08...and then the window licker said to me...0

only problem is it took me about 8 phone calls to get the sim activated. I will certainly never get a long contract with orange after spending a few hours in their phone system but the coverage is good in my area so it should be ok from now on hopefully.0 -
thanks for listing all the info, my cashbck contract is up in october and i think i will go for a sim only deal, ive got a blackberry pearl which is locked to orange so unless i want to change my phone i have to stick with orange, but its good to see them all side by side.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

Well this depends on if he wants to use the Blackberry push-email services. Its an extra cost anyway, but some networks won't allow an unlocked phone from another network to use their push services0 -
you can load the NEW networks software/OS then go instore & ask them to add the BB plan check out crackberry.com
most networks refuse if you have anothers OS/software but it takes 15 minutes to update the OS directly from BB Desktop software after you download the one you wish from blackberry.com
download OS you require
delete the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\AppLoader\Vendor.xml" file
update
viola !

:T wow thanks for the wealth of info - very helpful.
One thing i wanted to ask tho - Does anyone know whether the networks offer any deals if say i were to ring them for an upgrade from sim-only to a contract with phone.
I was interested to see if there are any retention deals for people looking to cancel sim only contracts or any discounts when upgrading to a contract with phone??

The orange sim only(can be got for £1.00) has no monthly fee on PAYG but when you top up you get extra benifits and the £10 stays on the phone
O2 do similar deals and are offering 4 free sims at the mo.

Depending on your usage this could be better than a monthly sim only deal. You also get 10% of your top-up spend back as credit each quarter.
I like text anytime as I text a lot but hardly make any calls. I also use the internet a lot, especially during the football season. Topping up £10 a month gets me 300 texts, I can get unlimited web access for £7.50 per month. That leaves £2.50 credit a month for the odd call I make, with £3 reward to come back each quarter. I can also cancel the web bolt-on during the close-season.0 -
diamonds,
Voila! But I'm sure you play the viola very well...:D...and then the window licker said to me...0
